Ted Kennedy abandoned the Clintons and was the force behind Obama's campaign. In return, Obama shuns the Kennedy family.

When Mel Carnahan tragically died weeks before his Senate election, John Ashcroft should have won by default, as the Democrats no longer had a (living, legal) candidate on the ballot. The governor announced that Carnahan's name would remain on the ballot, and votes for him would count towards his wife, whom the governor would appoint if the dead candidate one. When the illegal non-candidate one and Jean Carnahan was appointed, Ashcroft graciously chose not to contest the election. In return, Carnahan voted against Ashcroft's nomination for Attorney General, instead choosing to support the party's lock-step position.

There is no such thing as grace in Democrat circles.

I have no comment on JFK's politics, but he had more courage than most people. Anyone that would go swimming in the “Slot” at night is a real brave dude. That place has sharks by the truck load.
