I saw the play on Fox and I thought the CF caught the ball. I do not think the umpires would have reversed the call if Mattingly did not come out to appeal. So in a sense Mattingly got Jim Tracy ejected.

Scully’s narrative was funny.

Two things he mentioned during this game that I did not know about Scully after 50 years listening to him:

1. Vince Lombardi and Scully were good friends (probably back to the Fordham days).

2. Scully was at Sandy Koufax’ tryout, thought he was an “okay” prospect.

Missed it live....watching The Angels, but on the replay the ball definitely hit the ground.
