Only briefly. The Touch disappears in your hands. I would get a tablet if you want those features. Take a look:

They just said “Abilene, Texas” on the show—my hometown!

I didn’t know that. A few songs are about Abilene.

Goodnight, Friends!

Vision, I think the songs about Abilene are mostly about Abilene, Kansas, on the cattle trail.

Not to be the blunt force instrument here, but I despised the month of July once I entered my 40’s, and I despise it even more now. Bring on October. And deliver a cool, mountain trout stream with it.

AMEN, Viking!

I pray you and Mrs. Viking are doing better than okay (I know that’s very hard, but I still pray it).

Damn, that was a good suspense. It gave me a chill and that cackle was unnerving.

Yes, it was a twist ending, for sure!

Thanks for the recipe. I got it!

'Hey, how are you, things?'

Man, that must be some good bourbon you're sipping. LOL We're still vertical. The whole situation just gets more (unnecessarily, IMO) complicated and convoluted, but we're handling it. They say patience is a virtue, but it was never a built-in design feature of mine. The good thing is, we both had to do what we'd never considered before, and got a line of credit at a furniture store, and we've got living room furniture and a 5 pc. king sleigh bed suite on order for delivery. Kind of sweet, all things considered - how often do you get to newly furnish the two main rooms of your house all at once? We've already taken delivery on a (MY) throne.....um, living room recliner, which is crammed into our little FEMA-esque cubbyhole behind me. The guest room/office futon is stored at my step-daughter's for the moment - the grandson is excited because he knows it's essentially 'his' new bed for his weekly Tuesday Night sleepovers. LOL The downside is, this place we're in is my step-son's house. Nice place, lots of potential, and they're trying to close on a new house, but politics and exes are rearing their heads. Now we're faced with another two weeks of jockeying for bathroom time and trying not to drive each other nuts. I wanted to get a rental almost two weeks ago, but I got overruled. Now she's seeing a little of the wisdom I was trying to impart. Our salvage - what we have of it - is scattered to the four winds, and we can't begin to recover it and see what can be made serviceable until we have a place to put it. Every time we go over there to clean it out, we encounter another heartache when we flip over a piece of burned furniture, or ceiling sheet rock, or wall - there's always something underneath that meant something personal to us, and it's beyond restoring. And we haven't even addressed the upstairs of the house. It took a big hit, too. The house was an over/under duplex - you couldn't tell from the outside; it looked like a normal two-story home. But it had it's own separate street address, utilities, power meter, entrance, the works. It was a selling point in a soft housing market. We were between here and March '13 to having it paid off. We were remodeling it up there, and converting it into a full-blown, 1140 sq. ft. second home, but we were also building out the attic for storage, and the front room was being used for storage of a lot of things. The master bedroom held an array of Christmas trees and decorations you wouldn't believe. (In my family circle, I'm known as 'The Christmas Kid'.) I'd only been up there once after the fire, briefly, by flashlight - the fire department (or someone who knew what they were doing) pulled both power meters out of the breaker boxes and severed the power lines at the pole before we even got there, and they boarded up every window except the small one in the bathroom, so it's as pitch as a coal mine in there. I have no idea what was destroyed and what made it yet. The movers did salvage our big floor freezer - Connie cleaned the inside as white as an operating room, and it came on when we plugged it in, so we have it out in the detached workshop here, and were able to save all the frozen goods we had, including several quarts of tomatoes and beans we'd grown. It needs repainted, and I got appliance paint and 3M painter's tape to do it, but so many bags of smoke and soot covered clothes are around it, we're basically doing a bag by bag, 'throw/no throw' inventory in order to get to the thing. The fire department had pulled down a long pantry cupboard and knocked a hole through the wall to combat the fire, which had spread upstairs, and the freezer got bloodied good on the outside. One corner is scorched to bare black metal, and I could see why: you can see the sky and burned roof timers through the hole they knocked out. It those flames had fully spread to the second floor before they brought in the ladder pumper, there wouldn't be anything but a slab foundation left. It's going to take until New Year's to get it all sorted out, and we have to maintain the land it's on in the process. On a good note, we have a realtor who has a 'to do' list of what we'll have to put into it to get it to the point of being able to sell as-is, and he has a preferred list of disaster recovery specialists who allegedly do good work, and do it cheap. We may be able to unload the old dump and get some equity back, after all. Plus, I understand that we can itemize and write off most of it on a prorated basis on our '13 taxes. Everyone has been fantastic. Just today, I received a gift from the Semper Fidelis Bible Study Group at my hometown church, Christ UMC. Reverend McClay would have held a charity dinner had we lived closer. My adopted church, Blanton Baptist, has been great to us. The American Red Cross had us covered before we could start to worry about where we'd hang our hats that night. Our employers have literally fed us and covered our expenses. I'm a little less cynical about the human condition now, after seeing this outpouring of support. So many people to thank, and so little space to do it. We're in the process of writing thank you cards to everyone, but it's going to be one whopper of a stack when we finally get done.

Vision, I fully expect you to PM me with your home address, and I won't brook an argument. You started a prayer thread for us here, and it was worth more than all the gold in Fort Knox. You deserve a special thank you note. Gina, you deserve one on general pure-hearted principle, so I expect a PM from you as well. I have to hit the prayer thread and thank everyone very soon. I have limited net access at the moment, but I was obligated to respond to those of you who have shown your support, prayers, and FRiendship. That's a debt we'll never be able to repay. May Our Lord And Savior bless each and every one of you.
