If youre looking to get rid of your Korn, K.D. Lang, or Eagles records, dont expect to unload them at Lauries Planet of Sound.
The Chicago record store made its tastes public by posting its The Do Not Never Ever Buy List of used albums on its Facebook page.
Its a legit list, Nick Myers, Lauries manager, told the Daily Dot. That was stuff that had been here for a year or two, titles or artists we cant sell. Its not our own personal taste.
Myers acknowledged that despite the lists functionality, its also a great compilation of music acts to snarkily thumb ones nose at. It was put up [online] as kind of a lark, he said.
The photo reportedly made it to Facebook after being Instagrammed by an employee. Unsurprisingly, its garnered plenty of debate from Facebooks amateur music critics.
no journey? asked Nikolai Nikitenko. disturbed and korn? someone has bad taste.
But other users were on board.
I totally agree with The Eagles being on there twice, Eric Allen wrote.
No, it totally sucked!! If you ever needed contrast to show you good and bad, this is it. It’s her and Roy - Roy’s song. He knew what to do with it. The most amazing thing was watching them together, Roy did his usual low key thing - that was just him, he had the most amazing voice and it floated out of him. Then you see her, and the histrionics overtake her - just to try to keep up with Roy who’s all so casual about it.
No,never heard that one.Constant Craving was what I had in mind.
Most 90’s bands - lol. Ain’t that the truth.
Believe me it's what I do these days with the crap economy.
The people that want them, have them already. There is no resale value. Most on the list , I wouldn’t take if they were given away. What I don’t already have, I can get for free anyway
For some reason they do seem to have a lot of 2004 "almanacs" for sale though. Who even buys these new?
That’s more like it. :)
That list is all about what they can resell.
Some of it doesn’t sell because, well, because it is crap.
But lets take the Eagles for example:
The people who like the Eagles are all older now, and you can bet they already HAVE all the Eagles albums in Vinyl and/or CD.
The same thing is probably true of Journey, Kiss, Foreigner, and John Mellencamp. They are all from a generation that probably already owns all the albums they are going to buy.
In other words, being on the list doesn’t necessarily mean they suck, just that they don’t sell anymore.
They’re in Chitcago, what do you expect?
Don Henley Must Die, Don’t Let Him Get Back Together with Glenn Frey.
We went to a shopping mall
And laughed at all the shoppers
And security guards trailed us to a record shop
We asked for Mojo Nixon
They said, ‘he don’t work here’
We said if you don’t got Mojo Nixon then your store could use some fixin’
Its probably more an issue of recording medium than anything else.
Analog equipment is getting difficult to maintain any more, so its adios vinyl for lots of people. I used to have an extensive sound system 25 years ago, but i’ve given all of it to my kids, and don’t look to buy any more.
Janet Jackson is on there. Snort. :)
That name sounds familiar.Help me out here....Nevada brothel...2007....syphilis? Am I warm?
And you can get right out of my cab, man.
Right now.
The Big Lebowski is one fine movie.
I have my own list, but I won’t Rush my Journey to Boston or Chicago or even America in Blood Sweat and Tears on a Grand Funk Railroad or even by Iron Butterfly to tell ya!
I love freepers - Elvis is Everywhere!
Gotta love the Dead Milkmen - although “The Thing that Only Eats Hippies” and “Bitchin’ Camara” were better tunes (IMHO)
I love the breadth of Freeper interests!
Former Tigers’ great Jim Walewander’s favorite band.
