Chad Everett, who starred in the 1970s TV drama "Medical Center," has died. He was 75. Everett's daughter told the Associated Press that he died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer. Perhaps best known for his role as surgeon Dr. Joe Gannon, the actor was twice nominated for a Golden Globe for his perfomances on "Medical Center." The series ran seven seasons and, at the time, tied with "Marcus Welby, M.D." for longest-running medical drama.

Here is an interesting excerpt from Wiki:

A Republican, he had a much publicized argument with feminist actress Lily Tomlin during the taping of the March 31, 1972, episode of The Dick Cavett Show. Tomlin became so enraged when Everett referred to his wife as "my property" that she stormed off the set and refused to return.

From Airplane II

Simon: Just a few more hours and change ‘til liftoff.
Elaine Dickinson: I’m very excited, Simon.
Simon: Guess this is a first for you, eh kid?
Elaine Dickinson: No, I’ve been excited before.

Simon: My God! The sun.
Elaine Dickinson: What is it, Simon?
Simon: A large, fiery ball at the center of our solar system, but that’s not important now. We’re heading right for it.

George Jefferson died because Dr. Gannon wasn’t there to help.

Not sure. Seems like we have been losing a lot of memorable stars lately - but bad/sad things seem to happen in groups of 3.

Me, too. He was a great example of guys from my era - no doubt about their masculinity.

I ain’t gay but I’ve always thought he was one good lookin’ dude. Nice to see a solid long-term marriage, and as with Mr. Helmsley, a man who knew his talent was to act, and not to pretend to be a world leader or political philosopher.

RIP Mr. Everett and thanks for all the entertainment.

A sweet pic worth a thousand words - and more. God Bless both Chad - and his wife of so many years. Hope they are again sharing each others loving presence. A longevity of commitment, hardly typical - or at least evident- by todays Hollywood ‘unions’.)
