Chad Everett, who starred in the 1970s TV drama "Medical Center," has died. He was 75. Everett's daughter told the Associated Press that he died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer. Perhaps best known for his role as surgeon Dr. Joe Gannon, the actor was twice nominated for a Golden Globe for his perfomances on "Medical Center." The series ran seven seasons and, at the time, tied with "Marcus Welby, M.D." for longest-running medical drama.

I remember that show.
RIP, Chad Everett.

George Jefferson, this dude, who’s next?!
I used to love this show.
A Republican, he had a much publicized argument with feminist actress Lily Tomlin during the taping of the March 31, 1972, episode of The Dick Cavett Show. Tomlin became so enraged when Everett referred to his wife as "my property" that she stormed off the set and refused to return.
From Airplane II
Simon: Just a few more hours and change ‘til liftoff.
Elaine Dickinson: I’m very excited, Simon.
Simon: Guess this is a first for you, eh kid?
Elaine Dickinson: No, I’ve been excited before.
Simon: My God! The sun.
Elaine Dickinson: What is it, Simon?
Simon: A large, fiery ball at the center of our solar system, but that’s not important now. We’re heading right for it.
Medical Center and Marcus Welby MD
How ironic.
RIP Chad
George Jefferson died because Dr. Gannon wasn’t there to help.
Probably not as well remembered, but Ginny Tyler, one of the Mousketeers also died, altho I think it was last week or so.
George Jefferson ?! Oh, man .....
I really liked this show.
RIP Mr. Everett and thank you.
He passed away Tuesday at the age of 74 in El Paso.
RIP Mr. Hemsley. Thank you for the smiles and laughter.
My mother loved that show......and him!
George Jefferson, this dude, whos next?!”
Not sure. Seems like we have been losing a lot of memorable stars lately - but bad/sad things seem to happen in groups of 3.
The former owner of the Cincinnati Reds died...at the age of 100. (her husband died in 1992).
My mother loved that show......and him!”
Me, too. He was a great example of guys from my era - no doubt about their masculinity.
I ain’t gay but I’ve always thought he was one good lookin’ dude. Nice to see a solid long-term marriage, and as with Mr. Helmsley, a man who knew his talent was to act, and not to pretend to be a world leader or political philosopher.
RIP Mr. Everett and thanks for all the entertainment.
A sweet pic worth a thousand words - and more. God Bless both Chad - and his wife of so many years. Hope they are again sharing each others loving presence. A longevity of commitment, hardly typical - or at least evident- by todays Hollywood ‘unions’.)
