Sixties teen idol Bobby Rydell has undergone a liver and kidney transplant in Philadelphia.
The 70-year-old singer of hits including "Wild One" and "Volare" had surgery last week. He tells KYW-AM that his doctor didnt expect him to live much longer without the double organ transplant.
Rydell says he now wants to help raise awareness about organ donation. He expects to be released from the hospital Wednesday.

He was very good in the butchered movie version of the musical Bye Bye Birdie (which started stage production with the title “Going Steady”).
It's amazing how fast they can get you out of the hospital after major surgery these days.

I LOVE Bobby Rydell. I have an album of his I listen to all the time.
