One Friday night about fifteen years ago when I lived in Houston I went to Walmart. In the checkout line in front of me were two middle-eastern looking men in their late thirties. One was short and fat, the other slight and fragile. Both ugly. Both bearded.

They were purchasing a huge box of condoms together.

I have never been able to erase that horrifying image from my mind.
