the norsemen didn’t leave any genetic remnants — it was probably a short-lived colony. I’ve never heard of the Cherokee with European DNA — do you have any links that I can refer please?

I saw a couple articles here. There is a chance that thee might be some DNA present form ancient European. A direct decnedant would have to be found but the odds of finding anything is quite slim.
