Evening, folks.

Howdy, Viking! How’s your Mom and Sister and all?
Are you getting any rain up there?

Hi everyone,
Had a great evening here...
Group of friends brought over an Italian feast tonight!
The weather was still hot today, and the grass is getting so dried out. Hopefully, the heat wave will be coming to an end. We’re just not used to it.
To: Dr. Scarpetta
Hi Dr, what did you feast on?
We have a 75% chance of rain at 11pm. I’m excited.

Pies, cookies...

Doing well, thank you. Jumped in during
Fibber McGee & Molly. That old-time type of bill collection would be the equivalent of suicide-by-cop in 2012. LOL Just started a new job (yes, I found a new one in the Obamaconomy, and the details are karmic!). Mom and Sis are fine; no lasting damage, which is as much as a person can ask for. I think Sis may have come out ahead on the insurance end. Good luck on getting some rain, Vision (sans a derecho, 'natch). We've been parched, ourselves, until Friday night, when we got at least a solid hour of drenching, but the lightning show lasted twice as long. I could have read a magazine on the porch under it. The best part is, the heat has broken, our rain chances are on the upswing, and temps will be back down in the 80's by mid-week. Hope all is well with you good folks.
'Lottery in June, corn will grow soon.' So that's what happened to by bell peppers - I forgot to buy some scratch-off tickets. LOL

I remember reading The Lottery in school. It’s more frightening on the radio.

Hi, Doc! That sounds like a delicious friend feast! That was really nice of your friends to bring a nice dinner to you guys. I hope you’re both healing up nicely.
I also hope we all get rain.

Ah, there you are. It's hot and dry everywhere. But who cares if the grass is like hay when you have good company bringing a little bit of Rome into your home on a quiet Sunday night, right?

Something didn't smell right so I looked it up. Basically, a crazy liberal was scared that post WWII life “craved comfort, normalcy, and old-fashioned values” too much. Barf. Poor baby, having to live in post WWII America after everyone involve with the war effort came home. She needed to shake everyone up with some screwy horror story. What a legacy! And she looks like a crazy lib of today. For some reason I thought the story had more literary chops than that.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Viking, you made me laugh out loud with your comments—the suicide-by-cop and lottery liners!
I’m very glad all is well with you, your family and your rain reception! :-)

It really was nice of them to bring all that food over. We’re healing well. No crutches anymore for my husband and no sling for me. We were a sorry sight!
I really have to be careful what I lift. The shoulder is still sore.
We’re hoping for rain here too!

Oh, wow! She was an early “Occupy Wallstreeter.” Forget the Old Ways, whatever it takes! Don’t bother examining the old ways, though; just assume they’re murderously stupid.
Punks of every generation... But, I think the punks are getting worse with each new generation.
By the way, no doubt, she is of no relation to Sheila Jackson-Lee (other than ideologically, of course).

Yeah, my mother-of-invention irrigation system has kept things going, but a little of God's rain can go a long way, too. I have so many tomatoes right now, I don't know if we can can them fast enough. We already had to freeze about four quarts of cherry tomatoes, and we have at least another five pounds of cherry and San Marzano fruit in containers and on the windowsill, with more on the way. The wife is starting to stew them in quart Mason jars with onion, green pepper, garlic, a touch of Splenda for sweetness, and some fresh basil out of the garden. Italian gazpacho. LOL

Yeah, I'd heard you had a mishap. Car accident?
