Barack Obama and his family will not spend their summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard this year, after Baron Foster, Britain's most celebrated architect, bought their regular retreat.
With just four months remaining before he faces the toughest US re-election contest for a generation, Barack Obama could have done with a relaxing escape to the so-called playground of presidents.
But the idyllic ocean-side retreat on Martha’s Vineyard where President Obama has holidayed with his wife and daughters for the past three summers has been snapped up by Britain’s most celebrated architect. Baron Foster and Lady Foster of Thames Bank have bought the 30-acre estate for £14.3 million — and they appear to be in no mood for renting it out to the world’s most powerful family.
The sprawling Blue Heron Farm, which comprises a golf course, stables and an orchard, lies in Chilmark, to the south-west of the Massachusetts island made famous by the Kennedys and Clintons.
Mr Obama and his wife, Michelle, are believed to have paid £32,000 a week to rent the property...

It takes MONTHS to get rid of bedbugs, properly.
They can stay in one of the cooling centers here in virginia. A blanket on the floor and a box of Pop Tarts is a hell of a lot more than they deserve.
Cooling Center in VA? What is that? I’m sitting here in my garage addition outside Richmond (2nd floor unfinished room) and I haven’t gotten around to stuffing an air conditioner in the window. I’m not working out or working hard or anything, but it hasn’t been all that bad. Maybe 95-105, worst case. It’s sticky and the fan is nice when I remember to point it in my direction.
I could probably furnish a canoe and a tent so they can go camping on the Great Pee Dee river here for around ten thousand a week. It’s lovely this time of year, balmy triple digit temperature with plenty of mosquitoes and if they’re lucky they may see some alligators. The Cottonmouths are very large and only exceeded in beauty by the occasional Eastern Diamondback.
I believe nobama and his wife, mooch-elle, should vacation in Leavenworth. A long (and restful) stay for them would do just fine.

On behalf of rattlesnakes, kraits, black mambas, and venomous snakes every where, let alone all the non-venomous ones, I congratulate you for not libeling our legless friends by calling the Illegal a snake. After all, snakes eat vermin and he’s he lowest form of vermin.
The Baron needs to make sure that he arranges to have the property fumigated before he moves in.
It would really be good if the Diamondbacks and Cottonmouths chose to go slumming and sleep with them. Even better if they did to them what they often do to other forms of vermin, and did it repeatedly.
