Gun Questions - Need answers on a coupla guns...VANITY

Had to stop getting worked up about today's SCOTUS decision and the contempt vote/black caucus walkout, so I started working on some gun stuff. I know...I'm still just "clinging".

I need some help on a few guns I'm thinking about accepting in lieu of $500 - $700 in cash as part of a truck sale I'm doing.

The buyer didn't have enough real money to buy the truck, so I axed him if he's got any guns around.

Three of 'em:

1. A Marlin 30 AW in 30.30 (lever action); 2. A Marlin 60S - .22 cal with what he calls a "nickel" plated barrel; 3. A Yildiz over/under 12 gauge (made in Turkey, sold by Academy?).

You axed him?

Didn’t that hurt?

I would have asked him. You sound like you might have anger issues. ROFLMAO

He’s Mescan. So I axed him.

And in actual fact, today, I DO have some anger issues.

And not enough guns, it feels like.

I’ve cleaned ‘em all, loaded ‘em all up, and am starting over again.

Well in actual fact, I’m planning a hog hunt/varmint (coyote, bobcat, fox, coon) calling trip down along the Rio Grande (Eagle Pass), TX in July or early August. Hunting day and night.

Temps will be from 105 to 110 or so during the day and getting down in the upper 80’s/lower 90’s at night. Sleeping in hammocks and sweating for days. It’ll be totally miserable..and a BLAST!

I’ll be taking a 30.30 lever action, an M-1 Garand, an AK-47 and some AR’s and .22 magnums. Need rough ol’ tough guns...accurate, but rugged as hell. This’ll be cowboy, tough hunting, sleeping and camping.

We’ll be down there with the tough folks. Cactus, rattlesnakes, scorpions, desert, mesquite, arroyos and maybe, some illegals (don’t yet know what the limit is on those). Cooking over wood fires unless it’s too dry. If so, we’ll be cooking over small backpacking stoves, just enough to make coffee and grill a steak or so.

The lever action would make a great truck gun, I think. I might get it cut down a bit, and keep it in a scabbard behind the front seats. I’ve got guns that’ll outshoot it, but it’ll be awesome for where we’re going and what we’re trying to do.

Best to you. Thanks for your comments.

One piece of advice:

Guns and boating don’t mix.

I know, I know’ it’s what all the cool Freepers are doing, but many a Freeper has needed to learn the hard, tragic lesson.

So, are there any FReepers that wanna go on this hunt? I can only take a couple (max, depending on whether my son goes or not) and I’ve gotta be convinced I’m not gonna be with a rube or someone who’s liable to shoot me.

But if you’re not afraid of heat, don’t have to be comfortable all the time, know how to handle yourself around other people with guns, hogs, etc. and want to see some kick ass varmint calling (or even if you KNOW how to do kick ass varmint calling), let me know.

I’ll let you know what you need to bring and we’ll do some serious South Texas, Mexican border rough country hunting.

Old time Texas-style.

Don’t know the dates, yet. Just gotta be before September.

The 30-30 would be a nice backup gun.

The Model 760 serial number sequence was changed on November 26, 1968, because the National Gun Control Act of 1968 required that no two guns from the same manufacturer have the same serial number. The initial Model 760 serial number sequence began at 1001 in 1952, and ended at 549773. The new serial number sequence, now shared with the Model 742 autoloading rifle, began at 6900000.
