They are not merely my “beliefs”. It’s called herd immunity and it’s well documented.

Complications arise when widespread vaccination is not possible or when vaccines are rejected by a part of the population. In other words; there are always going to be, even among the vaccinated population, a small number of people for whom the vaccination failed, a number of people who were recently vaccinated but for whom the vaccination has not yet reached its full efficacy, some people who haven’t received booster shots of certain vaccines that require boosters and didn’t get them, those who have highly compromised immune systems – think cancer patients and then infants who haven’t yet been vaccinated and are between receiving, if they were breast fed, anti-bodies via the mother’s colostrum; only if the mother has antibodies or who were vaccinated, and receiving vaccinations or the recommended booster shots, thusly reaching full efficacy.
So in other words, the more people properly vaccinated, the lesser the chance that diseases for which there are vaccinations, can spread among the population in general and especially among vunerable populations.
So yes, if you choose not to vaccinate, do everyone a favor and stay away, far, far away from those of us and our families who don’t want to perchance catch what you have.

First of all, this is a “class action” lawsuit that hasn’t even gone to trial yet so this is not yet a cut and dried verdict of guilt against Merck. But if the whistle blowers, the plaintiff (a small medical practice in Alabama) and their Philadelphia lawyers are correct that Merck falsified test results, Merck will pay big time and should. It could be a vast conspiracy OTOH, it could be that the False Claims Act complaint had no merit.
So we will both have to wait and see what the outcome is after this class action suit based on not a claim of bodily harm but on an antitrust complaint, goes to a jury although I have little faith of a tort jury finding truth when it’s so much easier to see deep pockets and award damages because, well because after all it’s not “their” money.

Golomb & Honik BTW is a Philadelphia law firm that specializes in big class action, product liability and medical law practice lawsuits and Chatom is a small medical practice in Alabama that seems to consist of one doctor with no substantial interest in an anti-trust case. So why are they (Chatom) suing Merck? Because a firm like Golomb & Honik can’t file a big class action lawsuit without a plantiff….follow the money.
So in other words, they, the law firm mostly, is poised to make lots of money, the law firm’s seeded plaintiff will make some, but pretty much no one else (like anyone one who actually caught the mumps after being vaccinated) will ever see a dime even if Merck was in the wrong.

on the 2006 Mumps outbreak seems to indicate that the lack of receiving the recommended booster shots was, along with an outbreak among unvaccinated populations in the UK*, in great part to blame for the 2006 outbreak, not the lack of efficacy of the vaccination its self.
