The U.S. is clearly the leading consumer of HPC systems with 253 of the 500 systems (down from 263).

If it weren't for weapons simulations I wonder where we would be. Supercomputers don't buy votes, so politicians are unlikely to approve them.

Plenty of $$ in ginning up pretend models of AGW. Faking on that scale requires massive computing power.
