Californias $68 billion bullet train is supposed to travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles in less than two hours and 40 minutes.
That speed an average of more than 140 mph, including stops is a legal requirement, written into the state voter initiative that gave the project the go-ahead in 2008

They can already rewrite history, declare any budget balanced, and repeal the natural law of economics, time dilation would be a piece of cake.
The level of corruption in all of the "green" programs is hard to fathom.
They haven't even bothered to figure out a timetable for this stupid train. But they spent millions on "something". Who knows where the money has gone.
Total HS. this won’t be faster than my driving by car and that is with my usual stop just before I go over mountain.

No, the train will be much faster. It will get you from LA to SF in, maybe, 3 hours. You’ll never drive it that fast.
...of course you’ll need to live right across from the train station, and your destination will have to be right next to the train station in SF, in order to still beat driving.
Stops are a killer, as every redblooded American male obsessive compulsive mile marker monger knows, I assume. Trying to maintain an average speed of 60 mph, one gains on this mark painstakingly, hour by hour, only to see this gain bleed away in mere minutes at a rest stop, just as the semis that you passed a half hour ago come roaring past. But, you know, when you finally get there, none of it matters anymore. You even forget to check the odometer.
I think Californicate needs to go for the bullet train. They have lots of rich people out there that need to get from point A to point B very quickly and I’m sure they are willing to pay for the privilege. They could have fancy lounge cars and business suites on the train. Commoners could be accomodated in open cattle cars as the trip would be so short. They could name it “The Moonbeam Express” after the farsighted and omnipotent El Presidente of Californicate.
I have zero faith this this thing will only take three hours.
I use to live in Centervile, DE(just one mile from Joe Bide).
The train was about the same travel time to NYC, BWI, DC or hell....Charlotte.
The only reason I took the train to NYC was for weekdays when parking would suck or if I just didn’t want to drive, which was never.
My friend liked the train and we’d take it when she wanted and that was rare.
Pretty sure I’ll beat whatever the real average time is for a train and that includes parking, waiting, train maybe leaving on time, rental care at destination and then getting to wherever I’m going.
It’s why I never fly to LA. from San Jose I’m almost always going to be there about the same or faster and I don’t have to sit next to some schmo who is petrified, sweating, talking about Shiite I couldn’t care less about and his fat ass trying budge its way into my seat.
That’s just me and my experiences though .....
