Sigh...
I can tell I’ve been away for too long when I catch myself looking for a “like” button on your comment.

Strictly speaking, it's not Duluth: it begins at the Proctor High School (Home of the Rails).

The town was originally named Proctorknott, after Proctor Knott, a one-time governor of Kentucky...

Cheers!

Self ping to DL this again. Is it possible to change a username and still keep the points from the old username?

I hope you can help me with this, or refer me to someone who can:

Having trouble running FAH version 7.1.52 on my AMD X64 dual core. 3 years ago, on this same rig (running XP), I had no problem running FAH, so I’m going to assume that this FAH version is responsible for bogging my computer (now Win 7) down in a major way. Is there another version of FAH that I might have better luck with?

I tried setting the CPU usage to 90% (slightly noticeable improvement) and then 60% (no help at all). Are there any other settings that I might change?

Oops: X86

I’m backing up to a pre-version 7.

No, the F@H team gave up as the numbers of users passed several million.

If you change your folding name or your team, the counter is treated as a new folder.

When you look down the list of 600+ FReeper folders, you will notice a few folders that look like they just misspelled their name when setting up a new folding system. That's exactly what happened.

I still am not sure what might be causing the problem.

I would do what you did - erase the v.7 core and then reinstall a previous, non-beta version.

Keep us posted if it works.

The previous version worked OK, but I uninstalled it and put 7 back. It’s working fine, except I bog down again. I just pause FAH while I’m browsing.

Hi Clara and TB =

I tried to upgrade from my WinXP F@H client ver. 6.23 to the new ver. 7 and found the same problem - everything slows down, and F@H doesn’t release when I’m active on the system. Did a lot of digging around the F@H Forum, and determined that the problem is the GPU portion of the folding client. Unlike the CPU, the GPU doesn’t allow for interrupts in a timely fashion, so anything that needs to update or re-paint the screen bogs down severely. You can adjust the CPU portion of the client to use less than 95-100% of the cycles if you want to, but there is no such adjustment for the GPU. Both Nvidia and AMS are aware of this and working on getting it resolved, but until then it flat sucks on a desktop/laptop system.

I took the ver. 7 out, and reverted back to the ver. 6.23. I won’t get as many points as the GPU folks will, but the science needs those projects too, so it’s all good. You can get the ver. 6.23 under the older version section of the F@H Download page. Good luck, and keep folding!

Hi! Thanks for the information about ver 7. I decided to pause FAH when I surf and then start it up again when I’m not. It works find.

Need another front page call to fold! I’d do it if I could...heck I don’t think I know how to put links in a message without screwing it up really good. And you did such a great job with this one.....

I don’t know if you actively check our status, but we’ve fallen off of the top 100, Team Brony passed us! We need some new blood.
