And you never even saw Kirk’s personal shuttle with the blacklights and shag carpet in the back.
Are you kidding me? It never flew? But, I thought ....
No, but I had a pretty cool Dodge van like that ‘way back in the day...
There was a huge project that almost went forward to build a full-sized Enterprise in downtown Las Vegas. I read the article here in the last few months. They had the land deal in place, investors, the only thing that killed it was the head of the studio.
Here, I found the article.

You should have dropped that line of thought when the first person explained it to you.
It’s like I always say at the grocery store where they have this annoying habit of asking me for a dollar for something every time I shop.
I always tell them, “I gave at 7-11.” They give me a puzzled look, but it’s true. I have to buy cigarettes for the domestic partner. They cost a fortune because of taxes. the taxes supposedly go to help needy children with health care.
Ergo, we can donate to preserving this non-existent space shuttle if we want to without feeling guilty because you have another cause.
My parents had one of these when I was a child. It's called a Coleman camper.
Looks like a redneck houseboat. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that...)
The video says the owner’s wife is Indian. I wonder if she’s Paki instead?
It was, but the Enterprise got another in time to get hijacked by the Companion in season 2. Perhaps Galileo was one of the two names Enterprise could use for its shuttles.
It was, but the Enterprise got another in time to get hijacked by the Companion in season 2. Perhaps Galileo was one of the two names Enterprise could use for its shuttles. But I get your general 'folsom' point.
My point was the use of FR for solicting funds for something other than FR when FR is having difficulties getting the funding FR needs.
It took two months to get the last Freepathon completed, and now we are being solicited to cough up for a movie prop that has nothing to do with FR!?
Galileo was nearly destroyed when Commander Spock used her to travel inside a giant space amoeba to destroy it. Spock's mission was successful, and the shuttle was threw clear and collected and repaired by the Enterprise. A few weeks later, Captain Kirk and a small party used the Galileo to proceed on a diplomatic mission to Tarsus IV. Enroute back to the Enterprise, the Galileo was brought off course to a medieval planet nearby. Unable to control the shuttle, it crashlanded on the surface of the planet, and while the occupants survived the Galileo was damaged beyond repair. (TOS episode: "The Immunity Syndrome" and comic: "Day of the Inquisitors")
Thank you, rockinqsranch. Your concern is appreciated.
Well, okay then.
I admire your loyalty and devotion but instead of worrying about the 3 people in the known universe who might toss in a few bucks for this, why not wonder why it did take two months to raise the money on the last freep-a-thon.
I have some ideas.
As soon as it became obvious that Romney would be the nominee, I decided I would vote for him.
Since we’re on a Star Trek thread, I will quote Mr. Spock. “It’s the only logical thing to do.”
But then we had the zot festival. Very sad and ugly.
A lot of people were put off by vicious attacks against anyone who indicated support for Romney. People were reluctant to donate when they might be zotted.
I’ve always donated. It’s the right thing to do if you use a privately financed site. However, I, too, hesitated.
After Jim became a little conciliatory and decided to welcome, or at least tolerate, Romney supporters, I donated.
this is a far bigger issue than somebody trying to raise a few bucks for a sci fi icon.
Thanks for your response.
“After Jim became a little conciliatory and decided to welcome, or at least tolerate, Romney supporters, I donated.”
Therefore that is your perspective of everyone else’s reasoning as well.
OK.
Thanks Names Ash Housewares.
Well, what’s your explanation?
I wasn’t trying to be confrontive, just giving you my perspective.
