The whole Facebook concept flys in the face of everything I ever learned about navigating the net back in the 90s. Pseudo screen names on message boards and/or chat rooms and NEVER disclose your real name, address etc. Seems like Facebook is an affront to all that and people unwary pay the price.

A student of mine posted a pic of $300 that he was going to buy something with, I messaged him, and he took it down, but BOY was that stupid.
You just do not put pics up of your money on facebook.
DUH, the people who SAW the picture were FRIENDS of hers, unless one of her friends posted it to a circle of friends who reposted it to “friends of friends”.
I don’t buy someone randomly pulling up a profile out of “2 billion accounts” that may have been public.
So does Facebook have the IP addresses of all those who accessed this image?
These kinds of people are too stupid to use Tor or other methods of anonymizing.
Some digital cameras geo-tag photos by default. It’s a cautious person who goes to their camera (and camera phone) setting and makes sure geo-tagging is disabled.

Advice to my daughters: appear poorer than you are. It took them a while to grasp, but it is a lesson that has served them well.
Not to say that the posting wasn’t dumb, but who’s to say the posting was even seen by the robbers? If she’s stupid enough to post it on Facebook she’s stupid enough to blab it other ways.
