"My plan is to dry the peppers and grind them into powder."

That is an excellent and tasty plan! I have a jar of ground habaneros that Greybeard58 sent me several years ago. Although I use it all of the time, I've barely made a dent. I keep the jar vacuum sealed to keep them fresh.

Whatever you do, don’t put your nose in the jar and get a whiff.
You’ll remember the results for the rest of the day...

They’ll keep just about forever, as long as you keep them dry.

I have a gallon jar, almost full, of ground habeneros that I’ve had for 3 years and they are still good and still very potent.

About a half teaspoon in a pot of chili makes it deliciously hot, a full rounded teaspoon in the same size pot and I can’t eat it.

I will still mail some to anyone interested and will FReepmail me a mailing address. Free, I even pay the postage.

I’m heavily into cucumbers now, since “JustaDumbBlonde” mailed me a jar of her B&B pickles and then the recipe.

I give them away to fellow church members, keeping a generous amount for myself. Last year, I gave away about 60 quarts. They are a big hit!

When I give them away, I always ask for my jars back, most bring them back, some don’t. It’s the jars that are expensive.
