Kevin Costner portraying Devil Anse Hatfield from the History network's miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys."

I’m watching it now (repeat). It’s excellent.

They'd been doing an ad blitz. I don't bother w/ cable, but just from the ads I thought it seems pretty good.

So how many Hatfield and McCoys end up dying in this show?...I watched for about 15 minutes and saw about 4 or 5 guys get killed. Must have been really big families.

IMHO, this miniseries is outstanding. I will be purchasing the DVD at the end of July. I’m looking forward the final episode tonight.

I’ve watched both nights. Best thing on TV since Band of Brothers.

13+ million.
Even the ‘big four’ networks would be happy with those numbers.

I’ve been hot and cold on Costner over the years, but this one is damn good. It is engaging and entertaining. And, it pulled me away from Fox News for a couple of hours...

Well, after watching the first two nights I am surprised the McKoy clan did not go extinct.

Very well done and well worth the time to watch. Costner, Paxton, Berringer, Powers Booth and the rest deserve a lot of credit. Maybe Costner’s found his chops. He is outstanding.

Bill Paxton as Randall McCoy!
No wait... that was his role as "punk leader" in The Terminator. Hair & Makeup *really* helps make the hillbilly.

A TV movie or mini-series was made about this feud many years ago starting Jack Palance.

Ah yes, I remember fondly that hit song from my childhood back in the '40's:
I am sure that you will all recall the story
Of the Hatfield and McCoy mountain feud
Which was very, very bloody
An which killed off everybody
'cept one McCoy boy and Hatfield gal he wooed (a bit of artistic license there) - they don't write 'em like that anymore......

I just learned about this miniseries from ads during Memorial Day weekend war movies, so I had to catch it.
I'm gratified that people even in "new age," post-modern, urban, multicultural America are interested in "hillbillies." I would not have thought so.
I can't answer for the historical accuracy, but I know it was extremely violent and bloody and contained a you-know-what load of bad language. I watched it till the end, though I was getting kind of sickened and depressed by it.
It was also nice to see actual history on the "History Channel" instead of their usual "look and laugh at the funny rednecks" reality shows.
