This is going to be another summer blockbuster, can’t wait.
It will not have any of the iconic “xenomorphs” in it though.
As a White Anglo Saxon Protestant woman & corporate attorney married to a Hispanic GANGSTER Rapper musician with a shaved head & tattoos from Los Angeles California USA, The Alien movies was really about Feminism & the ancient Aztec & Mayan cultures of Mexico. As a Liberal White woman being married to a Mexican-American man, I see the portrayal of the Monster & Grotesque which is a big part of Mexican culture where sacrifice of Human Beings is a way to please the Aztec & Mayan Gods. On the Feminine side, I see the Mother Alien as a beast who wants to self-generate herself to perpetuate her Aristocracy which is deeply ingrained in ancient Anglo-Saxon culture of England which I studied in my English families genealogy. But as a fan of The Alien movies, I would like to see the Meredith Vickers character played by Charlize Theron turn into the mother Alien in this PROMOTHEUS movie which would suit her personality & character
And my response? Obviously:
As a White Anglo Saxon Christian Male and Computer Developer working with a major international entity, I see the Original Alien as an expose of success of capitalism and the Tea Party (as the 99%-ers in the Nostromo are mowed down one by one) and a good proof that Keynsian economics cannot work. The Aliens are Socialistic beings who share everything equally and devour everything in their path, yet the White Anglo-Saxon and presumably Christian Ripley defeats them. In the second film, we see the female (the "Bitch" alien) sardonically representative of the militant feminism movement, where she seeks to kill and maim men, and lays her eggs indiscriminately, like she has the privilege of a N.O.W. membership, enslaving her hapless male drones to her will, as is extant in the real corporate world.
See? Two of us can play the lame psychobabble game, chicky.
:)
He says that as if its a bad thing.
It was precisely the image of blue-collar entrepreneurial space exploration that I found compelling.
I suppose thats also what I like about the Firefly series.
I don't know if thats how its going to be, but its how I hope it will be.
