Its no holds barred against conservative candidates, though.

RINOs disgust me.

It's not off the table. Many PAC’s will go after Jeremiah Right. Romney can stay above the fray.

Rev Wright should be highlighted even more this time around. Obama’s policies can be directly tied to Wright’s Black Liberation Theology. Totally fair game.

Romney is McCain II.

5 days after 9/11, Obama’s filthy friends threw a party to celebrate 3,000 Americans being burned alive, crushed to death, or leaping to their deaths from 1,000 feet to avoid the flames. I have been to WEDDINGS!!!!!!!!!!! where there was not half as much joy on display as shown by those pieces of filth in O’s church as they celebrated 9/11. They were transported with rapturous ecstasy, numb with joy and throbbing with delight as they partied and screamed. And this is supposed to be off the table?

The idiot GOP consultants are blinded by their polls that tell them everyone loves Barry personally. What they can’t grasp is everyone lies about liking Obama because they think admitting they can’t stand the guy is the same as admitting you are a racist.

Romney took his dog on vacation 40 years ago, and this is relevant and important. Obama went for 20 years to a church where 9/11 was an occasion for orgasmic ecstasy, and that is irrelevant and unimportant.

Romney does not have to do it. Others will. He can even say in public that he would not support any group going after the Wright issue but that would not stop that group from doing it and Romney can always say that he does not control this group... This is called politics. He did the same when his super pacs attacked and destroyed his opponents during the primaries...

Rinomby can’t criticize a religious doctrine or their leaders because of his own belief.

Could it be that Romney is trying to take religion off the table since he is Mormon? If so, it won’t work. Dems will eviscerate him on the mormon issue.

Relax FReepers. We don't need Romney for this. This is why God invented the Super PAC. It will get done - by your fellow FReepers.

Romney probably figures if he gives Obama a pass on Wright he will get a pass on Mormonism. Of course, he figures incorrectly.

I don't know where Romney stands on the Obama/Wright connection but I suggest he should keep his powder dry on the issue for now.

Jeremiah Wright Can Sink Obama

"Mr. Wright says Mr. Obama possessed an “Islamic background” and despite his conversion to Christianity has never abandoned his Muslim roots." more at the link above...

I think Wright is old news at this point and probably should not be the focus of the Romney campaign. (I thought it was a much more relevant topic in 2008 and still hold it against McCain for stifling discussion of it.) However, I really don’t like the idea of being told that it is off limits to discuss this topic that clearly does relate to Obama’s character, beliefs and background. Moreover, stifling discussion is akin to admitting the liberal framing that any discussion of this issue is “racist”, which it is absolutely not. If the topic comes up, Romney should just quickly tell it like it is and then move on, i.e., Rev. Wright said some despicable things, Obama writes about his relationship with him and his church, I think the situation speaks for itself, next question.

He won’t have to. He can stay focused on the economy, and let the SuperPacs do the dirty stuff.

to be honest, its a waste of time. It be like going after Bush for what he did when he was in the airforce. We vet president’s background to understand how he will govern as president. Now that obama is president, we know what he is like as president and his background is pointless. Go after Obama for his assosiation while as president, not before

Romney is not afraid, he is logical.

Any effort that is not economic or policy related is ad hominem and therefore unproductive.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Mitt Romney tied one arm behind his back today when he repudiated efforts to make an issue of the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his connection to a former member of his congregation, Barack Obama.

This issue was gone over repeatedly in the 2008 campaign, and Obama won. It'd be just like the GOP to stick with a losing strategy but voters have heard all about Wright and apparently don't care. All the issue does now in 2012 is take the focus off of Obama's horrible performance as POTUS.

If Romney has a brain in his head, he'll hammer Obama nonstop on the economy, the national debt, and gas prices. A real conservative could also hammer Obama on the massively unpopular Obamacare, but Romney has Romneycare.
