INDIANAPOLIS -- Celebrity chef Guy Fieri will spice things up behind the wheel at this month's Indianapolis 500.
As RTV6's Sports Director Dave Furst reported in early May, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway confirms the Food Network star has been tapped to drive the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 pace car.
Fieri rose to fame after winning "The Next Food Network Star" in 2006, and now hosts "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," "Guy's Big Bite" and "Tailgate Warriors" on the network.
An avid classic car collector, Fieri owns the red 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

"His garage also holds a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible, 2007 Chevrolet Corvette, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, 1967 Chevrolet C10 pickup, 2006 Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 4x4, 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV."
I guess he's a Chevy man. I enjoy his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, he really seems like a great guy. Bet he's fun to party with.
he hasn’t missed a meal since either......*smiles*, he attacks a sandwich like he wishes he had a snake like articulating jaw
Hope he misses the grandstand unlike Eldon Palmer in '71.
And that’s exactly why I like him! You can just tell he doesn’t care about what others think, he loves good food and life and it shows. Nothing wrong with that, hell I would take his job in a second if it was offered to me, those comfort food sandwiches he attacks I sit there drooling at too.
yeah that was ugly
(yes, I know, to be 100% accurate the insurance company now likely owns it, unless a deal was worked out).
yeah, what a shame, that he enjoys his job and good food. its a travesty
He is the LAST person anyone would want near food.
He comes accross as just plain gross.
I remember some restaurant chain put his “recepies”/face on the menu and we simply stopped going there.
*smiles*
I saw him tasting goat head soup once -- I don't think he was having a very good time.
We watch his DDD show a lot. He enjoys mingling with people and is really entertaining. Too bad we don’t have one of those restaurants near us.
Some here apparently have a problem with Guy. Don’t know why, maybe it’s more them than he. But I’d have a beer and lunch with him any day...
the 500, the 500, the GREATEST race of them all!!
He’s fun, he truly seems like a nice guy, and it’s a show the whole family can watch. I love the show (Diners...) - it’s entertaining and you can tell he enjoys the people as much as the food.
He’s the only winner to ever become a star. Why they continue that dishonest tv show (The Next Food Network Star) is beyond me. Chopped is SO much better.
We tend to watch the Food Channel a lot in the evenings. Many nights, there’s little else worth watching. And DDD is our favorite by far. Entertaining, fun, and some of those entrees make me drool. But the closest places to us are in Chicago, about 80+ miles away. And I don’t want to drive to Chicago...for any reason.
You just put your finger on why I love the Food Network! No profanity, no sex, no hatred, no politics, no talking heads, no Chris Matthews. And a cast of characters who are expert in their field.
We saw a “chef” on Chopped drop a steak on the floor, pick it up and use it. They saw it too and still didn’t disqualify him. That’s disgusting. We rarely watch the show now.
Now Guy’s shows? Love ‘em! He seems like a genuinely great guy. Last night’s DDD had some hot dogs we were drooling over. lol
We watch Chopped and Cupcake Wars as well as DDD. The only problem I have with the first two shows (Chopped especially) is the idea of demanding winning recipes, out of some pretty goofy ingredients, in a short period of time.
It’s fun to watch them hustle about, and some display a bad side of themselves at time (a woman last week was pretty egotistic...), but these people are already successful, and to win a display at an event, or be a champion chef, would likely be better served with more time for imagination. Just a little peeve of mine...
