I need a truck

My 02 GMC has 200k+ on her now, she is showing signs of old age. I want to upgrade to a diesel. Just wondering what the FReeper World thinks is the best diesel 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck.

I am not picky about brand names. I could go with a Ford for political reasons......

Much as garcias....

I use the Rotella T6 5-40 synthetic in my dually year round though in the winter I replace one quart with Amsoil 0-20 and I add a half pint of Marvel Mystery Oil.

All three of my water cooled motorcycles use Rotella T6 5-40.

But in my wifes SUV I use 5-30 Amsoil year round, my oil change never exceeds 2000 miles on my Silverado 8.1. Hers will go up to 3000, I simply do not trust any oil past 3000 miles. Bob is the Oil Guy has done many a test on the Rotella T6, awesome performance for the price.

It has serious torque. I pull trees out of the ground in low gear at idle. It is a trip to see the horsepower and torque combination this thing has. On the highway, at 80 MPH it is running below 2000 RPM in 6th gear.

I am in Roswell, GA. This truck is comfortable. It is big. It does have bells and whistles. Unfortunately, it’s mpg is less than 9 mpg. Engine and transmission make gasoline hurt you in the wallet. It will pull a building down though if you so desire.

My 2003 2500 Dodge Cummins is coming up on 200K ... front seats and dash show the mileage but everything else acts like new... my only regret is the auto trans ... wish it was manual but if the tranny fails I’ll drop in an Allison and this thing Will go on forever ... it is that tough, it is a Work Truck and I 4 wheel with it ... I work it hard and maintain it, again my only concern is the Transmission, but so far so good.

TT

Oh yeah the Radio is starting to get weird .. gotta short somewhere but I live on the Gulf Coast and 4 wheel around Salt Water so ... stuff happens

I had a 26 foot steel gooseneck and with 2 horses equalling about a ton in it the F250 5.4 pulled it fine. No hills much less mountains on the Gulf Coast though.

I picked up my used truck last year for $2200. 60k miles. Won’t have to ever smog it. Came with a stove, refrigerator, sink, bathroom, and sleeps 6. Yup, it’s a 1975 Dodge motorhome.
