There was a YouTube video out a couple of years ago about another squirrel that was nursed by a cat. It actually learned to purr. So cute...
Cute! I’ve noticed that my fat cats have quit bothering the fat squirrels in my yard. I never thought I’d see that day.
I’ve raised baby squirrels and once they’re that size and their eyes are open, they should be switched to rodent chow/puppy milk replacement mush.
[cat milk is not nutritionally sufficient for baby squirrels, anyway]
In about two weeks they should start offering it nuts and seeds.
[NO peanuts..they deplete calcium]
Squirrel’s just a rat with a bushy tail.
That’s a rough bunch of siblings to grow up with. I’ll bet the kittens call him ‘dinner’.
Just for fun, of course ;-)
How cute is that?
Raised three fox squirrels one time. I bottle fed them and cut the whole milk about half and half with water-I think. They cant hack whole milk and will die if you try and give them that. You have to cut the milk.
Problem is, when they crawl on you they poop a lot. The thing that amazed me was their paws. They have those little knuckles and can pick up things and handle them. They can crack open a nut so quick it is unreal.
I wish I had a pet squirrel like that. I could let my Borzoi puppy practice chasing him.
The squirels around us have been feasting on the brood 1 17 year cicadas that came out this year. I think they eat everything but the red eyes and wings judging by the detritus that falls out of the trees.
