Babies generally do not bite when they nurse, most have lots of teeth by one year old, breastfeeding is still beneficial for months after that time.
My wife breast fed our son thru 18 months and probably close to 24 months. It pulled the post-pregnancy fat right off her. She lost probably 40 lbs. after the birth thru the following 18 months.
Living in Sweden, we see older and public breastfeeding all the time. Not at all unusual. For us it is normal.
What felt abnormal were the reactions we got when we stopped in Atlanta from Gothenburg headed to our other home in Naples, FL. My son was HUNGRY, at 2 months old, and we stopped at a bench to feed. The looks and comments, even though we covered up, were unbelievable.
An old woman stopped to lecture us that my wife should go into a bathroom stall. Old men clucked and shook their heads. A couple of mid 20’s black girls did the loud “you see dat...dat woman be milk’n dat boy....”
People would double take or stop in their tracks.
Hell, in Sweden nobody even covers up, just flop it right out there. And nobody cares!
I like the Swedish model MUCH better on this one!
Aah, yes they do (bite). And yes, it hurts.
