Gee, the Astronomy pic. of the day seems less then astronomical.
That’s kind of surrealistic looking. Nice pic though.
Checked it out with Google Earth. You can’t acutally reproduce this image, even approximately, because GE doesn’t have a zoom capability. What they refer to as zoom is moving your POV closer, which is not the same thing as a camera zoom. Kind of ironic I guess because the name is predicated on the similarity of a camera zoom to actually “zooming” in closer, which is what GE does. When you try it though, all the angles change, as the various buidlings, and The Statue of Liberty of course, are at different distances. What you can do is “zoom” ( i.e. move, in simulation ) back, keeping the SoL in position, and in this way discover the probable camera position, which is at the end of a huge pier in Bayonne. BTW that reddish building to the right is in Brooklyn.
Interesting photo! I like it.
Thanks very much!
Thanks. Interesting to think of all of the history that Lady Liberty has “seen” over the years.
Photo not complete without tourist guy.
So, NYC gets the one shuttle that never went to space? Why? Wasn’t it at Smithsonian Annex near DC?
