Worldwide, May 1st is traditionally a workers day a day of labor solidarity and a public holiday. Its a day to celebrate and march in support of immigrant rights, worker rights, and human rights. In protest against the corruption of the worldwide marketplace, which has led to illegal foreclosures, mass unemployment, low wages, high taxes and a penalization of all those who do not own the 99% of the worlds resources, and in solidarity with the immigrant movements of Massachusetts and the world, Occupy Boston is calling for a general strike on May Day.
On May 1st, Occupy Boston calls on the 99% to strike, skip work, walk out of school, and refrain from shopping, banking, and business for a day without the 99%.
No work.

Want to skip work? Fine, don’t be surprised if you don’t have a job when you go back - or more likely, burn your sick/vacation time. Don’t want to got to school - it’s going to be an absence that may count against your graduation.
Do what you want - but don’t whine when you also get to face some consequences to your actions.
I’d like to see the 1%tell the 99% we don’t need you for a day so stay home no pay.
Her usual. Lying. Just another day in the life.
On the other hand, I may try to get a part time job several hundred miles from my house to violate all the 99ers hopes and dreams. Hemi Ram burnin’ dinosaurs and decayed plants like there’s no tomorrow. Woo Hoo! On the other hand I have a landscape contractor starting work today. They better show up for work tomorrow. If there really is a so-called 1% then I hope I’m part of it. I’m gonna spend like I am!!!!
Helping keep mankind warm for almost 65 years.
Banks and corporations are strongly encouraged to close down for the day.
I'm sure that banks and corporations take their encouragement from the likes of you.
May 1, the traditional day of celebration for the world communist movement.
Just a thought......If the occupiers don’t work anyway...what are they striking??????
Down with the BOSSES!! Mine has me working 55 hours a week without overtime. NEVER get out of work on time because there is one more thing to finish. Put in 9 hours yesterday, a Sunday without a word of thanks. Didn’t get to eat until 9PM and then too tired to enjoy it. My boss is the worst in the entire world and is proud of it!!
Well, this morning I looked my BOSS in the eye and told him where to get off. While I was shaving, then I meekly went to the ‘salt mine’.
Down with the BOSSES.
The best time to look for a job is when you already have one
Hate the creep? search for a nice new gig and then dump a load of work in his lap and tell him to shove it.
Make sure you get letters of recommendation from co-workers or other bosses first
go over his head before you walk out the door for the last time and tell HIS boss why you are leaving
Do all this as professionally as you can, he may call you back since you were the one getting all the work done
Bosses like that are the scum of the earth- their ability to get the job done within a 40 hour week means you have to suffer weekends for it
what do you do?
I believe he was talking about himself. He is the boss.
In the USA its the first Monday in September. LABOR DAY!!!
I apologize to you. I was sure everyone would get the point I was TRYING to make.
I AM THE BOSS of a “one man” business, forced to do everything that has to be done, including making coffee. When I was learning as a 10 year old, my trade, my uncle cautioned me that, “He who works for himself has the WORST BOSS in the world”. He was right, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
Oh, I’m a watchmaker, and there are less and less people in my trade, like a lot of other trades. I also enjoy my work to the point I look forward each day to the shop. Despite my creep of a “boss”.
13 ping....
If I’m not dead, I WILL be at work tomorrow, doing my part for my customers and capitalism!
Am I the only one that missed that he was his own boss?
DOH!
Sorry!
If they do have a job and "strike" for a day, they won't have that job for long. (Unless they take a vacation day or something. But that's hardly a "strike".)
I love it.
It’s NOT a ‘workers’ day - it’s a union thug, communists, socialists, and George Soros Day.
