Gingrich not dropping out (newer thread): http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2874691/posts |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. There is increased speculation Friday evening about the political future of Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
Sources told NewsChannel 36 Gingrich has canceled all of his appearances in North Carolina next week.
Gingrich was scheduled to make multiple appearances throughout the state, including a visit to Lincoln Charter School in Denver next Wednesday. Fourth graders planned to present him with an American history project.
We are disappointed that the Gingrich camp has decided to cancel the entire NC tour, said Lincoln Charter School Chief Administrator Dave Machado. We were looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the accomplishments of the LCS Community. It is unfortunate for our students and for that we are disappointed.
The former Speaker of the House was also set to talk with an Honors Civics and Economics class at the school.
The Gingrich campaign is reportedly millions of dollars in debt.
North Carolina holds its primary on May 8.
Fox News radio is now reporting that Newts campaign says this isnt true.
According to them, Newt hasnt cancelled any appearances in NC.
Perhaps you are correct. Romney may be too busy playing all sides to slow it down.
And, Huck has eaten squirrel!
Good for you, if it isn’t on his site - he didn’t say it. Post #17.
So you are Republican, and not conservative?
Romney is Obama. Their personal platforms are the same. They voted the same way, they pushed the same things. Sad to say, Romney is better at getting things done than Obama, hence Romneycare which is in place, over-budget, and fraught with problems.
Sad, that a Freeper would decend so far as to forget that we are supposed to be about a FREE REPUBLIC. Not winning.

I will only believe it if Newt says its so.
The romney camp tried this before, remember? When Newt had scheduled a press conference in Nevada? They called local Nevada TV stations saying Newt getting ready to bow out...
And instead, Newt used the increased media interest to get more coverage for his news conference...
When Newt's campaign says it, believe it..
This is probably because Newt is moving up in DE... and they're scared... they never killed Newt off in FL though they tried...
HE'LL MAKE JOHN BOEHNER CRY LIKE A BABY GIRL.

Saw post #17. It’s true.
The media is lying once again, and Newts site says nothing about this. He won’t let those children down.
Will Mitt get's slaughtered politically our Republic will breath a sigh of relief. Mitt would only help the spread of evil Statism and make the end game much worse.
I am still hoping somehow Mitt is not the GOP nominee. If he is, I will take great joy in watching him and the anti-Conservative GOP-e go down in flames. [see my tagline]
There is NOTHING on Newt's site about it AND other FReepers have heard reports on Fox Radio from Newt's campaign staff that it's totally bogus.
You’re underselling it. It is not just about beating Obama and having a conservative VP, we must also have the House and that crazy assed Senate. We have to control the place and move fast - should the above take place the media will be beyond livid and will go after each and every (R) with hatchets, flame throwers, and - God forbid - a HANDGUN .......
oh, the humanity! :o
I smell Romney all over this. He is a backstabbing corrupt politician who will do or say anything to stop Newt.
He is scared to death of Newt and we know it. I think Romney was behind some of the attacks on Sarah, and now he’s aiming at Newt.
I don’t believe a word of this and I hope Romney pays big time for it.
GO NEWT!!
Of course he’s bowing out...he didn’t get enough votes.
I find that unfortunate but no one can deny that Newt has a lot of baggage and what does it mean when we’re expecting a brilliant, but tired and already trashed guy to save us?
I wanted Sarah...but this world isn’t built on wishful thinking. I’ll deal with what we’ve got.
It's mitt's dirty work.
Had conservatives rallied around the admittedly imperfect Santorum, we would have had a shot at stopping Romney. Newt and his ego cost us Ohio and Michigan which would have given Santorum the momentum to at least force a brokered convention.
How Newt, a man who was being ridiculed routinely at FR for his betrayal of conservatism just a year ago, got elevated to the great conservative hope is beyond me. Allowing himself to be blackmailed during the clinton impeachment, shutting down investigations into other clinton crimes, Global warming ads with Pelosi, serial cheating on multiple wives, calling Ryan’s plan “right wing engineering”, and endorsing Dede Scuzzyfavor vastly outweighed Santorum’s Toomey betrayal and pork projects.
Newt’s ultimate downfall came when he pulled a Rick Perry and called those wanting to enforce immigration law on longtime illegals “inhumane”. That even got multiple “FUNG” from the boss himself and was the start his falling poll numbers.
He even helped Mittens look conservative by attacking him for being “too tough” on immigration and he sounded like a OWS member on Bain capital. Sure, he could win his home state and 1 neighbor, but only Santorum showed he could win nationwide.
Had Newt continued to “realistically” compete, Santorum supporters would have held their noses and rallied to his side-ANYTHING to stop Mittens. Sadly, many (not all) Newt supporters tended to be more “Its my ball and I’m taking it home!” types. Many had a rivalry with Santorum supporters that was so intense that their hatred of Santorum became bigger than that of Mittens and Obama.
Some have gone so far off the deep end that they are openly posting that they will vote for Obama. The sad thing is these “vote for Obama” types seem to be able to post without fear and without too much flamage. Sadly those of us who supported Santorum (or are wondering what to do when its Romney vs Obama) are the ones who worry about banning and flames.
If you disagree with my points, fine. Say so. But I hope my 14 years here allow me to post these honest feelings and beliefs without “complications”. Things have been a little crazy lately and I can tell you there are many long timers who worry what their posted opinions can result in...
The voting isn't over. More dirty tricks from the GOP-E is more like it.
Romney has a lot to be afraid of. Nothing is locked up. He couldn't even get super-delegates to pledge to him.
But it is interesting to make a list of old-time freepers that are pro-Romney. I've lost respect for some folks that I had assumed were conservatives.

It’s mitt’s dirty work.
*********
It is more of Romneys dirty work. He will stop at nothing. If he can’t buy it he’ll destroy it.
(NOS, this ain't personal)
In fact, I'll continue to campaign against Romney every chance I get, until November if he lasts that long.
But he's run the dirty tricks machine a little too long, and folks are starting to get pissed off, and not believe anything from the media, GOP, or the Romney campaign.
Just my position. And I'm not moving from it.
