The chairman and CEO of Starbucks, has controversially admitted that the best way to make a cup of coffee - is not his brand's way. Howard Schultz says he uses a Bodum French press - a coffee presser brand - which results in 'the best cup of coffee known to mankind.'

I would enjoy a cup of Starbs once in awhile, UNTIL I found out about their funding of gay marriage last week in my church bulletin. NO MORE Starbucks for me, ever.

Thanks for the tip; looking into it now...
Oooh, yum, sounds delish.
+1 on Aeropress. Coffee tastes better than french press coffee.

Hey dude, it is not my opinion it is fact. Most coffee makers brew their coffee to one pop, STBX two, Pete’s three.
I do not care whether you accept facts or not, it’s no skin off my nose.
Bottom line you don’t like STBX or Pete’s don’t go there.
“And I tell them about the fabled McDonalds deep-fried apple pie of yesteryear.”
You had to remind me of those, didn’t you.
Now I miss them all over again.
I have tried to keep my prices low, but I will likely need to raise them. I don’t sell much over the web, mostly selling to old customers, family and friends.
If the volume doesn’t pick up, I am not sure whether to keep going. I do love roasting. The coffee is great, the aroma before, during and after roasting is fantastic. It is just more of a hobby at this point than a business.
Bottom line: You chose to promote a product of a godless, liberal corporate behemoth. I chose the product of conservative, Christian, local folks who make what is to me a better product than the crap you’re pimping.
You’ve made your choice. I’ve made mine. Enough already.
I am not promoting anything but facts about coffee roasting.
lol, One of my best customers was an old Navy Captain. He liked strong, but good coffee. He definitely liked my coffee better than any he had in the navy. However, being 200 miles from the ocean, the coffee drinking scenery wasn’t so good.
I had a lot of military regulars. Two are now local police detectives. One loved to talk about having coffee made with water from the Euphrates. Shortly after finishing the pot, a body floated by. He would say that coffee was better than any at McDonalds. :-)
No, you’re promoting your opinion as fact.
They roast to whatever pops... big freaking deal. IN YOUR OPINION, it’s “better”. If you want to spend your money with godless liberal corporate behemoths - that’s fine. You’re free to piss your money down that liberal RAT hole if you want to. I don’t.
“My father told me that during the Korean War they would make coffee by boiling water, adding coffee, then adding a pinch of salt that would make the grinds sink.”
My Dad told me the same thing except that where he was had to make it himself...in his helmet. Filtered it through his handkerchief. Then he rinsed out the helmet, filled it with water again, and shaved. Sometimes he used the coffee to shave.
I am on a crusade for this neat little invention. I love good coffee, but am not great at picking out chocolate, berry, and other subtle flavors. This little machine makes those and other natural coffee flavors pop out. It is simply amazing.
My other coffee equipment is now lonely and jealous. They are like Woody when Buzz showed up.
The pinch of salt trick does work when you have really bad coffee and no chance of finding good coffee.
It does wonders for Maxwell House and Folgers.
A double shot in the Dark!
You and I could be friends. I miss having my espresso machine hooked up. I temporarily had it placed at another shop with the agreement they would buy my coffee. Their specialty was cakes and they didn’t do the coffee part well. I know have it in my shop. I could hook that bad boy up until I find a new home for it. :-)
It is a twin Nova Simonelli Aurelia. The same model that was used in the 2009 Barista Championship.
Ok, I love espresso more than the Aeoropress, but it is close between the two... and the press is a lot cheaper, easier to clean/maintain, and uses less electricity. :-)
svcw, I agree about why Starbucks (Charbucks) roasts their coffee so dark. It is so they can uses lower quality coffee and coffee from various sources while maintaining the same flavor.
Some of their specialty shelf coffee is pretty good. However, like you, I don’t like supporting leftist organizations.
Ironically, I meet one of my best customers (a lefty) at Starbucks to drop off 20 or 30 pounds of coffee that he buys from me for his Gelato shop. I will buy a cup of Starbucks and sit and talk with him for 10 or 20 minutes, then he gets in his Prius and heads home. He is the best lefty I know and one of the few I am proud to call a friend.
You can naturally get more caffeine by roasting awful Robusta coffees (but, not that much more) and you can increase caffeine a little by dark roasting away some of the bean (the more you roast, the less coffee weight you have). I don't think either of those explain the above chart.
If I had to guess, I would bet on them adding caffeine to help addict customers.
Maybe, they just use a lot more coffee.
