Amazon is killing them. People go to Best Buy to see what the best looking picture is, then buy their HDTV from Amazon.
Exactly. They are a showroom. And they’ve been very very slow to get on board with their online presence. They’re a bloated pig and are nay now waking up to the reality that store-front retail is more than just being the only player in town.
Bingo! Best Buy is just a handy place for internet shoppers to get hands on experience with products that they intend to buy online. Sad but true. When I go in to look at something, I always check online with my iPhone to see what the price difference is, if it is nominal, I go ahead and pick it up, but if it is substantial then I go home and order it online.
I did that a few years ago. Here's why. I researched the TV I wanted (reviews, specs, etc) both online and at the stores. Best Buy had an online ad for "buy a tv and get 3 Blurays" for free or a very low cost. I went into the store and asked them to give me that offer and free shipping. I was willing to pay a few dollars more to get the TV now. They said go talk to customer service which had a huge line. I already knew what TV I was buying so I wasn't going to waste my time waiting in a huge line with no guarantees and walked out the door and ordered it from Amazon.
For $50 they lost a sale and coincidentally that store is on the closing list above. I mainly buy just BluRays if the sale price is good. The bonus is when I can also use a coupon which Disney offers from time to time.
