...a lot of these stores seem to either be in depressed areas (Calif) or downtown stores where people browse but don't drive in with a pickup truck to load up.

The Ft Myers store was in an area where heavy development was going on and then quit happening.

Amazon is killing them. People go to Best Buy to see what the best looking picture is, then buy their HDTV from Amazon.

Yeah, I left out the housing bust areas like parts of FL, AZ and Atlanta. That’s probably the majority of the closings.

Yeah, thats "my" best buy store. That area, (Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers) was devastated by the housing downturn. Surprised any businesses made it through.
