I have not been posting as much on FR lately. I have been dealing with a lot of health issues in recent months. A lot of it is personal and some of my friends don't even know about about everything im dealing with. I have not wanted to be seen as whining or overwelming someone with my own problems.
I initially rejected the idea. But I have decided that spening 6 to 12 months in a nursing home is the best thing for me right now. I can focus on outpaitent therapy and get the care I need.
I am having a lot of problems with my muscles and joints (related to R.A.) I have stomach probs/bathroom accidents and it is getting more and more difficult to take care of my own hygine. plus other personal probs... A lot of this takes a toll on me emotionally as well..
I will feel weird staying in a nursing home at the age of 26. I am a father, im a husband. But we believe it is the best thing for me right now. to hopefully improve physically and emotionally..
ty for keeping me in your prayers
My prayers are with you.
May God bless you and watch over you and set a path for your recovery. May His grace lift your spirits and the spirits of those who love you.
I hope you have WiFi or some other sort of internet access and check in frequently with you friends here at Free Republic.
Prayers up for you and yours!
God loveya...you’re stronger than you realize.
Prayers for your prompt recovery-—docs don’t know everything-
Keep your thoughts positive. You have a great deal of moral support from your friends at FR.
God will hold you in His capable, loving hands while you mend.
Prayers. Although my mother is not as young as you, she has some of the same issues you describe and after 4 months is coming home after having an intensive rehab centered experience at a nursing home. Because it was rehab and didn’t exceed a certain number of days, her insurance picked up the tab. She will also be having a nurse visit 3x a week at home to make sure she’s doing what she needs to do to take care of herself. Sometimes we just forget what we need to do, and when they retrained many of her muscles, monitored her medications, and taught her certain techniques and how to make her bathroom more âuser friendlyâ , she improved immensely. She still has a few days to go there and they say she’s now like having another nurse working there for free. She travels around in her wheelchair on her own to conserve on energy needed to walk each day to check on each patient! There are some patients your age where she is and she says she enjoys talking to them and they seem well adjusted. There is a 25 year old who was in a severe accident and is a quadriplegic. She loves him and says “if only I were 50 years younger!” My moms issues were physical, not mental, sounding like yours and they’ve really helped her and she feels useful too!
Ping.
Prayers for you, dear courageous man.Perhaps keeping a journal will help...speedy recovery.
Hello FRiend. I’m praying that you will leave the facility whole, and able to resume a normal life with your young family. Keep up appointments with your doctor on the outside. Take advantage of rehab opportunities. With RA, no pain no gain. Keep in touch!
Oh my! Prayers and wishes for your improvement.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Prayers up.
I hope you get weller.

I will add you to my prayers.
Sorry to hear about this. Thanks for sharing. God be with you and your family.
And thank you for sharing your situation with us, and don’t feel like you are whining for doing so.
You have done me a great service. I prayed for you just now, and was struck with a very strong sense of gratitude for my own health and the health of my family... something that I have NOT expressed enough gratitude for lately.
Keep up your spirits, and never forget that faith in God is always rewarded. God Bless!
Oh, and on a lighter note my brother “enjoyed” seeing some of the girls that would be giving him a sponge bath were he there! He asked if you could request a certain nurse if he were to check in. They all just shook there heads at him!
After returning from LA, I chose a completely different path and have now worked in a nursing and rehab facility since 2008. Most of the residents are elderly and there are a few younger folks. Get to a rehab facility with people your age - the psychological and social plays into your recovery as much as your physical rehab. You won’t be chained there - you can leave for visits if you want and make sure to find a facility with WiFi. Our place also has free Direct TV and phones. Let them take care you YOU as you get stronger.
