“He is a self-described “Christian mystic” combining Eastern mysticism and Gnosticism with Christian jargon, yoga, hypnotism and self-help principles.

As with other Eastern-oriented cults, The Foundation of Human Understanding teaches that God is both personal and impersonal, advocating an almost pantheistic God.

In lieu of dependence on Jesus Christ for salvation, Masters teaches dependence on his meditation techniques. He teaches that mankind is inherently good, thus there is no need for salvation or a savior.”

No thanks, Jesus Christ is enough for me, I don’t need any smooth talking false shepherds.

Roy does not do hypnosis, but rather helps set people free from it! He did start out many years ago as a hypnotist but transformed into a real christian and his Be Still is a wonderful help to so many people. Works much better than talking to God...as God already knows what we need! We must get out of the thought world where the darkness works.

I listen to Roy, and what you said isn’t true.

Roy teaches the direct opposite of what you said: in fact he teaches that we are all in the thralls of sin, and we all need Jesus to save us. He says he, himself, was saved from sin by Jesus...he uses Jesus’ name explicitly. He has talked many times of the redemptive salvation of Jesus’ sacrifice.

The area in which I strongly disagree with Roy is Roy says Jesus is not God. I believe Jesus is God, the Son, creator of the universe, who existed before the universe, as the Bible preaches, “Before Moses was, I Am.”

Roy doesn’t believe that. Roy says Jesus was born sinless, because He was born to Mary with God as His father, and because He was crucified when He had no sin, He gives salvation to the human race, but Roy says Jesus wasn’t divine, wasn’t God. I strongly disagree with that belief.

Roy’s meditation does enable people to “snap out” of their swirling emotions and thoughts, and let their power over us fade.

I’ve sometimes wondered if Roy is a gnostic, the kind that Paul talked about. He seems to say that it’s not good to experience emotions, which I disagree with, and says that as we become closer to God that people and emotions and feelings become more and more distant, like we’re watching a movie on TV, from a distance, not really connected with any of it....I don’t agree with that.

I think one naturally has emotions and feelings, the important thing is to not let them control you.
