I live in a 'dark area' on the map - I love it. I can see all the stars.

I shaved $30 a month off my electric bill - by my own methods - and I will NEVER have a government 'screw-you' mercury bomb in my lights. I save money to save money, not because the greenies, who have more light bulbs in their kitchens that I have in my whole house dictate to us.

Tonight, my house, and friends and neighbors will be lit like Christmas trees - and put a one night lit-up spot on the map in our area.

can you give me the link where you got that photo please?

I’m looking to buy land and then put a small cabin there where I can see the stars at night.

Here we can see stars quite good but I’m looking to get away from even a road for at least 10 miles

Hmmm...according to your US map, that one guy in North Dakota is REALLY doing his part to light up the sky.

This whole Earth Hour thing is just STUPID. I bet if you counted in the costs of turning off, then turning power back on that it takes MORE energy to get things "warmed up" again.

It reminds me of when NBC turned off their lights during some football broadcast. Bob Costas and the other guys just sat there in the dim studio, looking like fools. Studio lights don't just come right back on, they take a long time to come back to their full brightness. Plus it wears out electrical devices faster when you keep doing this.
