Is being a vigilante illegal?

1) Why does the victim’s family need a lawyer at this stage? Eve if there is a wrongful death suit, Mr. Zimmerman is more than likely does not have deep pockets.

2) If this was “Law and Order,” the lawyer would be Latino... (just sayin’)

let's see, which is worse, vigilante with gun or thug with screwdriver?

And if that accusation is strictly true, doesn't it establish Martin as a lawbreaker? I mean, in order to be a "vigilante", there needs to be an alleged criminal...

but i guess finer points like that are probably lost in this sort of fray, eh?

Who says he had Skittles and ice tea? Is there any police confirmation of this? Or is this just one of the many lies the family, the attorneys and the msm spouting as they’re trying to protray him as a little innocent 12 year old? When Zimmerman was on the phone with the cops, he said the teen was approaching him with his hand in his waistband so where was this supposed candy and drink?

Others have pointed out that skittles and az tea are street names for drugs so was he shoving drugs down his pants? Or was he acting as if he had a weapon when approaching Zimmerman? Or was he jive @ss strutting?

I also want to know who exactly it was who decided this incident was worthy of national news, celebs and congress wearing hoodies and the POTUS wanting him as a son? Someone had to have latched on to this and trotted it to the WH. I want the name.

Self defense is not vigilantism.

While the Zimmerman/Martin ‘white’ on black killing is covered 24/7 on the MSM with an outpouring of rage and charges of a racial hate crime, where is the concern- where is the rage about the home invasion, torture, beating, rape and murder of the elderly white couple by a gang of feral blacks in Oklahoma just a few weeks ago?

The 90 year old war veteran husband was beaten and his jaw broken. He was shot in the face numerous times with a BB gun and sent to the hospital in critical condition.

The 85 year old partially blind wife was RAPED and then BEATEN TO DEATH.

Can you just imagine the pain, the humiliation, the horror that dear old lady experienced being gang raped by that pack of feral animals?

(the autopsy states she was raped. Don’t think all of these animals didn’t all participate)

And can you imagine the pain, the horror of that dear old husband having to witness this?

There’s a lot more involved here than a home invasion and robbery.

WHERE ARE THE CHARGES OF A RACIAL HATE CRIME??

90 year old husband’s jaw broken and shot in face with a BB gun numerous times?

85 wife year old semi blind wife RAPED and BEATEN to death??

Why does it take a foreign press to enlighten America as to this henious crime?

Where is the outrage?

I'd say that the New Black Panther Party that put out a poster with a bounty on Zimmerman's head is more in line with the vigilante term.

I hope when this is all over, Zimmerman will sue the asses off these race baiters.

Coming from someone whose ethical obligation is to zealously advocate for his client, this means diddly and squat.

“It’s about justice,” says Crump, 42. “Too many times, whether it’s Martin’s case or Trayvon’s, our society looks on the death of black boys like they’re throwaways. And we’re not going to let them get away with it.”

Crump doesn’t do it alone. His partner, Daryl Parks, is just as apt as Crump in the courtroom or in handling the news media.

Together, the two lawyers have handled Trayvon’s case like Martin’s, with one big difference: They learned their lesson six years ago in the boot-camp case.

In Trayvon’s case, they alerted the news media more quickly. They phoned the Rev. Al Sharpton almost instantly, and organized marches with local civil-rights activists. They also started pressing for federal involvement and alleging a cover-up from the get-go.

Race is central to their practice — but that’s because racism is so central to the black experience in Florida. Parks, 42, said he took one case — involving a Lakeland police officer’s shooting of the black father of a child driven without a baby seat — because he was appalled by an officer’s statement that “You’ve got to control them.”

Said Parks: “Who the hell is ‘them?’ I had a black juror and I made sure she heard that.”

Parks & Crump won the case. Now they’re fighting in the Legislature to get the victim compensated.

Crump was first contacted by a cousin of Trayvon Martin’s father. The cousin, a Miami attorney, was familiar with Crump’s civil rights work in Florida. Before Martin’s death, Crump was best known for representing the parents of a teenage boy who died after an encounter with guards at a Florida boot camp in 2006. The videotaped beating of Martin Lee Anderson attracted national attention and led to the closure of the state’s boot camps for juvenile offenders.

Crump, 42, and his wife, Genae Angelique Crump, are raising two teenage boys who are the biological sons of Crump’s cousin. The oldest is Martin’s age.

“Trayvon hits home on many levels,” Crump said.

Crump and his law partner, Daryl Parks, are Tallahassee-based personal injury attorneys who primarily handle wrongful death and negligence cases. But their everyday work often involves civil rights issues.

“Daryl and Ben look at things in a broader perspective,” said James Messer, a Tallahassee attorney who serves on the board of the Tallahassee Bar Association with Crump. “While there may be a wrongful death issue, it involves, in their eyes, more than anything a civil rights cause … (Crump) has a passion for issues that have something to do with civil rights violations.”
