Good news: Nancy Reagan character in new movie to be played by … Jane Fonda

Via JWF, a late-evening palate cleanser from your resident eeyoreblogger to send you to bed in a bad mood. I was searching for a joke here but couldn’t think of a precise analog for Hanoi Jane. “Co-starring Rosie O’Donnell as Mamie Eisenhower”? That doesn’t work; hate Rosie all you want, but she never posed for pics sitting on enemy guns. “Co-starring Bill Ayers as the Gipper”? Nah, that’s actually not fair to Fonda. She may have posed for the pics but she never tried to blow anyone up. Ah well. This ingenious bit of stuntcasting makes me as excited to see the movie as any roundhouse kick to the groin possibly could. Well played, Lee Daniels.

I’m sure it’ll be a rich, fair, thoughtful portrayal. Can’t wait for the kuh-ray-zee seance scene.

In the midst of recruiting an all-star ensemble for his long-gestating passion project “The Butler,” director Lee Daniels has tapped Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan.

Based on a Washington Post report by Wil Haygood, pic follows Eugene Allen, the White House butler whose career started with Harry Truman in 1952 and ended in 1986 with Ronald Reagan…

Daniels, who is directing from a script he co-wrote with Danny Strong, is in the process of finalizing financing for the pic, which has no distributor onboard yet. Pamela Williams will produce through Laura Ziskin Prods. along with Hilary Shor.

How about Vanessa Redgrave as Nancy Reagan instead? Michael Moore as Dick Cheney? C’mon, there has to be an apposite analogy here. And no, they can’t go out and get Streep. Granted, she did okay with her first conservative-icon role, but I’m pretty sure she’s beyond their budget.

This is such an arrogant, sick, dastardly, and foolish decision that it will blow up on those who made it. What an excellent opportunity it presents! It is a rally point for everyone who loved President Reagan and despises the traitor, Hanoi Jane. All manner of consequence, mockery and ridicule should be heaped upon anyone associated with this insult: satire, vitriol, street demonstrations, boycott, parody, angry shouts, practical jokes, and incessant condemnation.

Hanoi Jane doesn’t not have the minimal manners to slink away in shame and be quiet. She is resurfacing in her dotage to play Nancy Reagan while Mrs. Reagan is still alive? “Oh no she didn’t...”

I look forward to the creative genius of the Freepers to make this STOOOOOOPID affront cost these commie losers so much that they’ll rue the day. Have at it!

Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan? That’s like Joan Crawford singing “Bless The Beasts and the Children.”

It would be like Adolf Hitler, starring in The Jazz Singer.

I just saw some movie from the late 80’s called “Old Gringo” a fictional story about the real life mysterious disappearance of author Ambrose Bierce during the Mexican Revolution.

Illiterate commie General Jimmy Smits and Bierce (Gregory Peck in one of his last major roles) where both smitten with a frumpy looking schoolmarm Jane Fonda for some mysterious reason. There were tons of senoritas around but a 50 something Jane Fonda is what they wanted.

I like GP, but will not watch anything with that Communist garbage in it.

I've been tempted to watch “Coming Home” with Jon Voight, because I want to see the performance that beat out DeNiro (The Deer Hunter) for best actor in 1978, but again, I will not watch anything with that garbage in it.

In real life, I'm sure the frumpy bag would have the banditos fighting over her, while the nubile chicas are running around...RIIIIIIIIIIGHTTTTTT..................
