Could it be the LYNX effect?

The age old feud between cats and dogs seems to have been put to one side as Lilica the German Shepherd becomes inseparable from her feline friends Liza, Viki and male Muro. But what makes this friendship even more unusual is as well as being cats, the cubs are also wild lynxes. Lilica is helping to teach the little cubs how to fend for themselves in the wild as part of a conservation project in the National Park Velka Fatra, Slovakia.

The animals met through a scheme in the country called ‘Return of Lynxes’ aimed at trying to reintroduce the cats into the wild after numbers suffered from hunting. Conservationist and photographer Tomas Hulik said: ‘The first part of the project was that we took two young lynxes, Liza and Munro at the age of five weeks.

Suppose she has motherly concerns about their poor barking skills yet?

:-)

I wonder if step-mother Shepherd has taught her three charges about the benefits of chewing on shoes. There is a shoe in the background... :)

I hate to say this, but did you see the comments? The dog is dead and has been for a while. Such a shame.

Sweet dog and kitties.

With tuffed ears and bob tail, it sounds like a Manx. They are really neat cats....and born with the bob tail. I think they are the only breed that has a bobtail...My father brought one home for my mom when I was a kid...he was a mounted policeman and they had barn cats in the stables..One cat had a litter and one was a ManX. Must have been a throwback to earlier genetics with the mom and dad cat, the rest of the litter were just cats....

This lovely shepherd was shot and killed by hunters in November 2011.
