Liberal intolerance, by the numbers
American Thinker ^ | 3/14/2012 | Thomas Lifson

At last we have statistical evidence that liberals are less tolerant of views that disagree with theirs than are conservatives. Andrew Malcolm of Investor's Business Daily points us to the data, found in a Pew Center for the Internet and American Life Project study.

The new research found that instead of engaging in civil discourse or debate, fully 16% of liberals admitted to blocking, unfriending or overtly hiding someone on a social networking site because that person expressed views they disagreed with. That's double the percentage of conservatives and more than twice the percentage of political moderates who behaved like that.

The proportion jumps even higher when someone on a social site disagrees with a liberal's post.

Only 1% of moderates would block or shut out someone who dared to disagree with them, compared to 11% of liberals, whose rate was nearly three times that of conservatives.

Doesn’t surprise me in the least. It happened to me during the Van Jones debacle, when a liberal family friend “unfriended” me for posting the specifics of Van’s career, professed opinions, and political affiliations.

One thing for certain. Liberals are mental basket cases because they’ve never fully grown up. Immature people aren’t likely to do much soul searching to solve problems and they’re the first ones to blame anyone but themselves.

It’s sad for them that they suck so much but they sure do.

Ever been to Huffington Post?

Outside of Tehran, it’s the single most moderated site on the planet.

"16% of liberals admitted to blocking, unfriending or overtly hiding someone on a social networking site because that person expressed views they disagreed with. That's double the percentage of conservatives.."

That's an inappropriate comparison. The righteous hatred of evil should not be equated with the evil hatred of righteousness.

My sister did that to me, my wife, and all my friends for the crime of being conservative.

I had this one flaming liberal friend very upset with me because he posted this chart about presidents spending. It said Obama had spent the least of the last 6 presidents, something ridiculous showing Reagan and both Bush’s out spending Carter, Clinton and Obama and Obama had only spent 16% of what G. W. Bush had spent. I showed him an article by a liberal newspaper (WaPo) saying how this BS chart was making the rounds again. He de-friended me saying, if I knew it was BS I should have sent him a private message instead of trying to humiliate him on facebook. All I could think of was, “what a puss.”

Ever try to post at DU?

You have to become trusted after a few months to exercise free speech there.

You can’t post a thread until they “trust” you will only march in lock step with the other socialist brown shirts.

We ignore (tolerate) stupidity: they oppose common sense.

I don't post my face, or tweet, or any of that nonsense. If my sister did that to me, I'd just do what I've always done to keep her in line since she was born: I'd sit on her head and fart, or give her an 'Indian rope burn'. Right in front of Mom. And my niece and nephew, just to see them giggle. I'm old school. I just deal with her accordingly when I come home for Christmas. And Big Bro always wins.

We'll be in our 80's, and I'll still be giving her a 'Wet Willie' just to push her buttons.

"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
