The Duquesne Incline (one I posted pic of)is actually pretty tame with a 58% angle... The Monogahela Incline (not that far from the Duquesne) which isn’t as pretty to look at, the cars aren’t the pretty red caboose looking but more of a creame boxcar shape, actually has the steepest angle of any incline in the US at a whopping 78% grade.

After wimping out on the Duquesne (pronounced close to “dukaine” for those playing at home — Pittsberghers LOVE to watch tourists try to figure it out), there was NO WAY I was going to try the Monogahela — I almost fainted just looking at it from the street.

Great memories of the ‘Burgh — I used to go to Station Square and take the waterwheel ferry across to the new stadium to watch the Steelers games. My wife and I discovered a great restaurant a little upriver of Station Square where they had the greatest Italian food!

And of course, the view after you exit the Fort Pitt Tunnel towards the city has to be one of the most magnificent anywhere.

There is a lot to miss about Pittsburgh. And I was only there for a couple of years. Displaced Pittsburghers must be regularly bummed.
