My dad was with the Tactical Mobile Units at that time. Fortunately for him, he was already a lieutenant because that was also when affirmative action started rolling and the only officers that were being promoted were blacks.
I remember one day he brought home a listing of officers who were up for promotion to sergeant. The list also included their test scores. All the officers were black and absolutely none of them had scores higher than the lowest scoring white officer. It was disgusting and dad was rightfully pissed off..........
