Learned that not too long ago, trying to translate the words to a song I like.
The verse was “me duele tonto”, I think it roughly means “it hurts me more than I can bear” or more literally “it hurts me stupid”.

Could certainly be wrong. :D
I am sure babelfish or Google translator could fix it right up. lol.
The verse may well have been "me duele *tanto*", which would translate to the first translation you provided...

Right. I just tried Bing Translator on “Tonto,” and this is what I got:
Translation: Fool
Dictionary: adjective - silly, foolish
I think you have a letter wrong in that.
"Tanto" means "so much" The verse would be "it hurts me so much" The way you have it written it would be "It hurts, Stupid!"
The song says, “Me duele tanto.” Not tonto, Tonto. That means it “it hurts me so much.” This makes me giggle. ¡Que bárbaro!
