The smart play for Peyton would be retirement. If he makes the choice to continue to play the game, I hope we don’t see him seriously injured. I also don’t want to see him play on his name/history rather than his skills.

I don’t get it. Love Peyton, but like Favre, he just can’t move on. He’s made a zillion dollars, he could BUY the Colts, he’s already suffered for a year with an injury that hasn’t COME BACK yet (but will show up for real when he’s older); why doesn’t he settle back and cash in? There is absolutely nothing positive that could be gained from Manning attempting to play again. He's had a brilliant career. He doesn't need the money. He could have a lucrative career as a broadcaster, or stay connected with the game in some other non-playing capacity. If he plays again, it's a tragedy waiting to happen.
