Oh, wait.

Never volunteer to be the "catchee" for a circus act based upon artillery.

The locale for this "hold muh beer" event: Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park. Hmmmm.

National Cannon Association Safety Rules:

1. ALWAYS keep the cannon pointed in a safe direction.

This is the primary rule of cannon safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

When using a cannon, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

3. ALWAYS keep the cannon unloaded until ready to use.

Whenever you prepare a cannon, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, open the action and look into the chamber, which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to inspect the chamber, leave the cannon alone and get help from someone who does.

When someone violates these rules and happens to shoot his own wife, I always wonder about his happiness with his marriage.

Did they put her in the cannon before the cannon ball or after the cannon ball.. that’s probably where they went wrong.

I don’t think the wife should get the Darwin Award, but her husband isn’t really worthy either since he survived. Maybe the Darwin Society should open a new category, “When Darwin Laws of Who Should Die Go Wrong”?

I didn’t read the article, but I’m wondering...

Did they claim that they were cleaning it when it unexpectedly went off?

Husband said they were working on it when “it just went off.” Yep. All by itself. That happens all the time when you ram in some powder and a cannon ball. The darn things suddenly develop a mind of their own, and just go off. All by themselves.

I am thinking the phrase "alcohol may have been a factor" will be added in a later update.

From the website. I'm thinking he's right.

“State fire Capt. Mike Mohler says the men told authorities they were working on the cannon nearby when it went off.”

Whenever working on something that has the potential to go boom, it is always a good idea to make sure the thing is not loaded....just sayin...
