[Excerpts from the news video] ...
Mitt Romney- "I'm a big believer in getting money where the money is, and the money is in Washington.
...
I've learned from my Olympic experience, if you have people who really understand how Washington works and have personal associations there, you can get money to help build economic development opportunities. ...
We actually received over 410 million dollars from the Federal Government for the Olympic games. That is a huge increase over anything that I have ever done before. We did that by going after every agency in government.
...
I believe that the number was over a million dollars of Department of Education funding to buy tickets for kids. This way, we got kids there and we also got additional revenues we didn't have. That kind of creativity is what I want to bring in everything we do. ...
I want to go after every grant, every project, every department..."
...
On the 2012 campaign trail Mittens goes on the attack,
"Republicans spend too much money, borrowed too much, and earmarked too much, and Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have to be held accountable. In this race, I'm the only guy who has not spent time in Washington. "

This is why it is hard for a party legislative leader to run for executive office. The jobs are so different. Paul Ryan, as a comittee chairman is better situated than Cantor, for instance. But even he is going to have to explain some of his votes, because he does have to take one for the team, from time to time, or he wont be chairman for long. Ron Paul and Michelle Bachman each choose to play the lone wolf and you can get by with it so long as your constituents choose to send you back. But if legislating is your thing, you can’t do it alone. One thing you do learn to do as a leader is how to manage men. Abraham Lincoln began to acquire the skills he showed as President as a leader of the Whigs in the Illinois legislator. He and his party also bankrupted the state, but thats another story.
I’ve heard various whores saying contradictory things in the past and I really didn’t pay much attention.
i googled to find out whatever i could about this. this apparently isn't teaparty or conservative news. the dnc released a web video attacking romney for his olympic spending in the middle of last month (i may have missed it with surgery and it didn't pop up with 'olympic' in search). it was covered by the hill and others back on february 17. the expenditures and the dnc video - and mccain's statements - are already the subject of a factcheck.org article. john mccain was quite vocally opposed to them . . . back then, although he's trying to re-cast his previous statements now.
i don't know who leaked the internal video of mitt bragging about the money, but i know that i missed all of the hooplah about the federal spending on the olympics. du has been addressing romney's spending and mccain's backtracking already.
Thanks Red Steel. It’s just possible that the only thing left Zippy can hope for is to have his 2012 campaign buried in an unmarked grave, to prevent desecration.
Assuming the 527 / SuperPAC attack ads actually use this.
There ....
yep
This is one of the reasons that I wish FR had an upvote system to send top-rated comments to the top of the page. This should be the very first comment any one would read on this thread.
Great reference.
Great stuff. There is a blank spot when you try to find out just what Mitt DID to “save the olympics”.
He acted like a liberal!
“which makes him even with Pres. Obama.”
Plus, although the details are different, Mitt’s dad was born outside the united states. Hmm, and McCain was born outside the CONUS...
That was before Rush caved.
I admire your FReeper page, the strength, intelligence, frankness and resiliency profiled there. Based on that, I think in this instance, you’ve overreacted. Admittedly, it’s a hard fight.
Anybody who by now doesn’t already understand what a lying, pandering piece of liberal dog feces Mittens is will not be swayed by even more evidence. The evidence is already overwhelming.
Thank you FRiend. You will also note that I fly the Wisconsin state flag on my page. It’s been horrible here and getting worse by the minute. I truly do fear for my girls’ futures at this point, as I do not see evidence of enough patriots to stem the tide of what we are facing. I hope I am wrong.
Yawn. It means nothing.
“I don’t plan to swallow strychnine to avoid arsenic.”

I don’t know a lot about poisons, is one of those a more horrible way to die than the other?
Then, Mygirlsmom, as I see it, your decision is simple, but a hard one: Pray and Fight.
As for Rush, he didn’t surrender his argument, he decided he’d made a tactical error and simply retreated to change firearms and strategy.
One source of his ammo is advertising. Without it, there is no livelihood, and most importantly for us and the country — no golden Voice.
THIS IS WAR on several fronts, culturally, politically, economically, morally. It’s probably going to get much worse, and your girls are growing up within this conflagration.
Retreat is not surrender. The militiamen at the Battles of Concord and Lexington retreated, but never surrendered, and they won against all odds and the most compelling force on earth!
Consider that, like Rush, you have merely retreated to rest, get your bearings, take stock and wait on reinforcements. When the militiamen retreated beyond a ridge and looked down on their besieged city, their frustration at being far outnumbered must have weighed on them enormously. But that’s when reinforcements began trickling in from the western towns.
Robust Rush has been through all this stuff before. It “bothers” him, but he knows he’ll get more listeners out of the fracas. The dainty, delicate advertisers will return after a change of outrage and of pantaloons. As for us, we rest when we must; but we stay and harden ourselves and fight back, because “they” will, and what choice do we have?
The only thing worse than hearing children ask, “What happened to America; where did it go?” is to hear them ask, “Why did you just let it happen?” If losing is inevitable (and I reject that notion) even then, we go down fighting!
To arms, Goodwoman?
Yes. Thank you floralamiss.
I don't know. If taken in sufficient quantities both result in the same undesirable outcome. I'm certainly not motivated to vote for someone because he might be a little less deadly to the country than Obama (although a review of Mitt's term as governor will call that assumption into question).
