When I was a kid in the sixties, people in their thirties were getting old; after all hadn’t they fought the Red Chinese on Pork Chop Hill way back when everything was still in black and white?
Now, somebody pushing seventy is young?
For death? Yeah. 13 years under life expectancy is definitely young to die.
“Now, somebody pushing seventy is young?”
Now that many of us live well into our seventies and even eighties, 66 is young by comparison.
Look at Helen Thomas. Still alive and she’s 433 years old.
It’s all relative. When I was young, most people’s bodies were worn out by 60. I’m about to turn 63, and I play in a dance-rock band that kicks butt. I had girls in their 20’s making eyes at me from the dance floor last week.
My dad is 86 and still goes to his office most days. At 75 he could could still leave me behind on the black diamond runs at the ski slopes. He only stopped because my mom (84) has asthma and can’t go to the mountains anymore.
Times have changed.
