"We started hearing about these 20-, 25-, 30-year-old men who were constantly at football games, around the teenage girls, and who somehow believed that it was a great thing to be sleeping with virgins," she said. "And I was aghast."

Probably wouldn’t be such a big deal if they were sleeping with teenage boys, though.
As long as they wear condoms, support planned parenthood, and vote DFL what’s the big deal.... /s
This is part of the demonization of men plan.
Neither Omoslem nor Larry Sinclair were underage during their backseat limo sex-and-crack parties.
Got no aversion to mergin’ with virgins,
But I much rather pet with a well seasoned vet.
Selective liberal outrage.
Reliably inconsistent.
And when the teenager gets pregnant, the older creep will coerce her into ‘choosing’ to abort.
What’s with this voyeuristic obsession with sex crimes on FR?!
Well, DUH!!! And how well did that work out for ya?
But for a variety of reasons, they say such efforts failed, and the behavior persisted for decades.
Decades? Try centuries! Men chasing women has been around for a long, long time. Cultural mating norms shift regularly, and much older men used to chase much younger women with the full knowledge and approval of society.
There's little data to gauge whether the relationships between adult men and teenage girls that occur in Grand Marais are unusual,
Yeah, there's darned little data. And when you talk about "adult" men and "teenage girls," how "adult" is a 21-year old man and how much of a "girl" is a 19-year-old female, despite the fact that technically she's still a teenager? I for one don't see how there's anything at all unusual about this.
or how the pattern took root.
Uh, biology mabye?
It's also unclear whether a similar pattern is common in other Minnesota communities.
How about communities anywhere in the world? I would suggest that this is hardly an isolated paradigm, and that it's far more the norm than the exception.
Talk about a tempest in a teapot.
This article is ripe for a deconstruction from a factual perspective, not to discount the numerous instances of LibTard faulty premises being accepted as fact.
Hopefully, another FReeper will do it, as I have to finish a paper dealing with faulty management premises amongst the Armed & Rangerous at the Department of the Inferior.
If not, hopefully, I can amuse myself awhile hopefully disabusing LibTards of some of their delusions.
I wanted to call in and ask them, aren't you the people who have been lecturing us for 40 years about the evils of judging other peoples’ cultures? Their culture isn't worse than ours, just different. You want to force these people into accepting our culture? What are you a cultural colonialist?
If it's in NPR, I'm going to guess that what they're really upset about is that the teenage girls were having sex with older men. If they were being seduced by older women, they would be fine with it.
any adult who is trying to sleep with minors should be put down like rabid dogs
I don’t care if its men or women, boys or girls.
It’s still wrong.
This story is just bizarro. But if sex is for married people and that is what is taught, maybe this stuff wouldn’t happen. How come such weird stuff happens in small towns?
Exactly. These same people think Santorum is from another planet.
I thought this was about JFK.
