Well, I’d have to go with The Silence of the Lambs followed by Blade Runner...2012, nothing.

I loved the score to The Artist - a mixture of the style of Bernard Hermann and Max Steiner.

“Thor” had beautiful fanfare, as the camera swept over Asgaard

I haven’t seen any nominated films though

I know some people like the Oscars, but I stopped watching when “Shakespeare In Love” beat out “Saving Private Ryan”.

But, it is a free country, at least for now.

It may be a mark of age when you find going to the movies has become a bore. However, given Hollywood’s consistent biases, it may also be a mark of intelligence and conservatism. I may make an effort to see “Act of Valor” though, after all, exceptions do make the rule.

As far as film music is concerned, I have enjoyed much and many but have not heard all of the ones from tonights ego-fest. My favorites from ‘recent’ films have been the soundtracks from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy (2001-3) and “The Last of the Mohicans” (1992).

Sigh, 10 and 20 years ago - all those movie tickets, popcorn and drinks un-bought ... maybe that is why I’m not poor now!?

I saw The Artist yesterday and loved it. Great score. The public was mesmerized, not a sound from anybody. It was so nice to see a silent movie and enjoy it.
