The Nuclear Accerated Generator is close second.
Thanks for the link to the article. Why are the drawbacks to using Thorium vs Uranium?
Glad to be a proud investor in Southern Company (SO) stock.
Pro-nuke freeps should check it out. Nice divi too.
There is even more reason to switch to listening to John Barry scored tunes and drinking single malt Scotch...

It doesn’t get any better than this.
Thorium reactors are not a new idea, but appear to have some nice characteristics. The devil's advocate asks why not let the market decide? Since there has never been a single injury caused by the nuclear characteristic of commercial power reactors, what is the point. The reason we don't have eighty percent of our electricity being generated by nuclear reactors is political. Coal is marginally cheaper, but contributes enormously more contamination to the earth and atmosphere than the nuclear fuel cycle - coal even contributes more radionuclides than nuclear.
Nuclear power is a profit center for environmental lawyers, who keep investors paying interest on loans to build plants while the attorneys for both sides are being paid with our taxes. Some, like Obama’s cohorts, will spent their careers, like John Holdren and Amory Lovins, arguing and campaigning to stifle any source of safe and inexpensive energy. They know they can't impose a Marxist tyranny unless society is in dire straits, and have done a good job, and made very good livings, both of them, by producing nothing and crippling innovation and enterprise.
If thorium reactors make sense, they will be built. But you and I have probably seen other reactor designs crushed by our bureaucrats, who, not producing anything themselves, justify their careers by what they have stopped others from developing.

That would lead to more... gasp... smelly peasants being born!
We can't have that.
Let them burn pond scum.
China is actively developing Thorium reactors and will eventually be selling them back to us (like they do with wind turbines today) , or even worse China will build Thorium plants here on our soil and SELL us electricity, boy won’t that be just great.....
