A Florida man got the shock of his life on Wednesday when an electronic cigarette he was using exploded in his mouth.
Honestly, you try to do the right thing and it all blows up in your face. A Florida man who finally came around to the idea of giving up smoking decided to use an electronic cigarette to help him try to kick the habit.
So far so good, you might think. The problem for 57-year-old Tom Holloway, however, was that while it was in his mouth the thing exploded.
The explosion was so severe that it destroyed some of his front teeth, as well as part of his tongue, and left his face severely burned. On top of that, carpet, cushions and pictures in his home were set on fire.
Holloway, from Niceville, Florida, is reported to be recovering in an Alabama hospital. Its believed a faulty battery caused the incident. The specific brand of electronic cigarette and battery hasnt yet been identified although its thought that the battery was a rechargeable lithium type.

I don’t think he’ll be buying a GM Volt any time soon.

The guy was probably using oxygen . Supplemental oxygen will cause anything to burn or blow up.

Life is all about risks and taking chances. Even a blind squirrel finds and acorn occasionally.
So, does a person risk a one in a million chance of this happening, and keep on smoking regular cigarettes and getting cancer or worse, or use "water vapor" infused with a little nicotine to get off the bad stuff?
My wife has been smoking over 25 years and has tried EVERYTHING on the market to try and quit...I got her some of these E-cigs and she hasn't had a real cigarette in over six months now.
She loves them...there is no odor, no stains, and she can smoke them anywhere including in the bed (no fire).
And, they actually average out to about $2.50 a pack as opposed to almost $5 a pack for regular cigs.
They come in several nicotine strengths all the way down to zero, so you can gradually wean off nicotine.
It is the PERFECT solution to the person who just likes to "handle" a cigarette and go through the motions.
She tried a regular cigarette the other day and said it tasted awful.
I'm thankful we tried these as she would have never quit smoking regular cigarettes and wound up with something bad. She already was develping "smokers cough", but that has completely disappeared now.
I know, I know...you purists out there would say they should just quit, period. But for a lot of people, it's not that easy to do. This is the perfect solution.
By the way, depending on the brand, they also come in flavors, like cherry, chocolate, coffee, and even menthol.
There has been occasions of cell phones and other devices exploding, but people are still walking around with them to their ear.
I feel bad for this guy, but he probably bought one of those cheapo brands from a local convenience store. We buy ours off -line and read all the reviews and got the best we could find.

Just wait until all of the lawyers come out of the woodwork on this one.

A lithium battery? A heating element? A volatile liquid? In the mouth? What could possibly go wrong?
Next generation of these will probably have a pocket battery pack, and a wire going to the vaporizer.

More power to you and the wife! It’s encouranging to see freedom loving Americans take the bull by the horns and exercise their freedom to quit rather than succumb to the liberal, fascist, nanny state mentality that has been prevalent amongst the politically correct azzholes that call themselves “conservative.”

I tried a cheapo from 7/11 and it made me feel very sick. It had propylene glycol to make “smoke” . I puffed it so much trying to get a nicotene fix that I did the math and found it was more $ than Pall Malls. I don’t smoke but get some occasionally for headache medicine.

A lot of them are made in China. These are the people who put car anti-freeze in toothpaste to make it sweet. Oh yes, and put sheet rock in laundry detergent which I actually got a few months ago at a laundrymat. You could actually see the chalk and it was all clumped together. It had all the Chinese writing on the box. The Chinos are allowed to rip us off left and right because we owe them so much money. Just avoid anything from there.

the one and ONLY to quit smoking is to quit smoking....cold turkey....a rough 2-3 days, but then it’s over...I smoked 3 1/2 packs a day, ran out in a bar one evening, decided to quit....and did so.
